CAPTAIN BRITAIN Real Name: Brian Braddock Affiliation: Euroforce Powers: Super Strength, Flight, Force-field projection
Brian Braddock was a student assistant at the Darkmoor Research Centre when the criminal Reaver attacked the facility to steal its secrets. Attempting to escape, Braddock ran his motorcycle off a cliff and lay near death. In a vision, Merlin the Magician and the Goddess of the Northern Skies appeared to him and bade him choose one of the mystic objects before him: the Amulet of Right or the Sword of Might. Braddock chose the amulet and was bombarded with mystical energy that granted him superhuman strength and stamina. The patron spirits decreed that Braddock would be Britain's champion, and gifted him with a mystic star-scepter to enhance his fighting skills.
Through Merlin's tutelage, Brian learned the truth about his family's extra-dimensional origins. He learned of his metaphysical connection to the land and people of Otherworld -- a glorious kingdom positioned at the nexus of reality, where science and sorcery exist as one. To safeguard the infinite realities from evil, Merlin had founded an elite cadre of heroes, the Captain Britain Corps. No greater force for good existed in the Omniverse, and no greater hero bore the Corps' legendary standard than Brian's father, Sir James Braddock. Scientist, warrior, philosopher, strategist -- these attributes made Sir James the ideal candidate to embark upon the sacred mission that would shape the future: the quest to sire a savior; to father a king. A genetically compatible mate -- Brian's mother, Elizabeth -- was selected from our Earth, 616.Strength Level: When not clad in his strength-augmenting uniform. Captain Britain possesses the normal human strength of a man of his age, height, and weight, who engages in regular exercise. With his strength augmented by his uniform, Captain Britain can lift (press) approximately 2 tons under optimal conditions.
When Captain Britain arrived on Muir Island with W.H.O. he insinuated that he was not the Brian Braddock that Moira had met previously.
Known Superhuman Powers: (formerly)Captain Britain possesses a number of superhuman powers derived from his mystically enhanced uniform. First, the uniform enhances his strength. Second, the uniform enables him to fly. Captain Britain can fly at a maximum speed just under the speed of sound (770 miles per hour) for prolonged periods of time (until bodily fatigue requires him to rest). Third, the uniform can erect mystical force fields at Captain Britain's mental command. This force field is employed to protect him from atmospheric conditions while flying. It is strong enough to deflect a bazooka shell without deforming or rendering it wielder unconscious from the concussion. (Repeated blasts would weaken the field considerably, and eventually penetrate it. The uniform also enhances Captain Britain's stamina and reflexes to superhuman levels.
Brian Braddock's mystical armaments amplify his strength, stamina and reflexes; permit him to fly; and enable him to generate a protective forcefield.

LIONHEART Real Name: Kelsey Leigh Affiliation: Euroforce Powers: Super Strength, Flight, Force-field, Destructive Blasts
Kelsey Leigh was a single mother with two young children who lived in Ipswich in East Anglia, England. She was a schoolteacher who taught English literature and history. Back when she was married, thugs invaded her home. One of them attempted to rape her: she fought back, hurting him somehow and he cut her face with a broken bottle in revenge, scarring her permanently. Meanwhile, her husband, Richard, was too paralyzed with fear to help her. His guilt over that incident led to the dissolution of their marriage.
One fateful day, her family found themselves on the front line of a battle between the Avengers and the Wrecking Crew. Thunderball rendered Captain America unconscious and Kelsey selflessly put herself between the fallen Captain and Wasp, using the downed Captain's shield. While the shield was indestructible, Kelsey wasn't, and the shock from the blows inflicted terrible injuries on her; she died en route to receiving medical attention.
Kelsey awoke to find herself in a ring of standing stones, where she was met by a vision of Brian Braddock (the former Captain Britain), currently ruler of Otherworld, and his wife, the elemental shapeshifter Meggan. To save Britain from the evil Morgan le Fay, he passed the mantle of Captain Britain to Kelsey. Her heroic act of bravery had earned her a second chance to live and to defend her home. Given the choice between the Sword of Might and the Amulet of Right, Kelsey, desperate to see her children again, and not seeing how a necklace could defend anything, chose the sword, the path of violence. Instantly, she was transformed into the new Captain Britain, only to discover that her decision meant that if she ever revealed who she was to her children, it would cost them their lives.
She accompanied the WHO delegation to Muir Island to relocate the Warpies.

THE BLACK KNIGHT Real Name: Dane Whitman Affiliation: Euroforce Powers: Magical Sword
The original Black Knight was Sir Percy of Scandia, a member of the Knights of the Round Table in King Arthur's Sixth Century Camelot. One of Arthur's staunchest supporters, Sir Percy adopted the guise of the Black Knight in order to serve his king in a dual capacity: as an unassuming man of the royal court and as a mysterious avenging champion. King Arthur's court magician Merlin gave the Knight the Ebony Sword, an enchanted blade constructed from a meteorite. The Black Knight's greatest foe was Mordred, "nephew" of King Arthur, and for years Percy tried to gather evidence of Mordred's treachery to no avail. Soon after the fall of Camelot, the wounded Mordred dispatched his men to kill the Black Knight, using a dagger constructed of the same meteoric ore as the Knight's Ebony Blade. The ambush succeeded, and Sir Percy was slain. Merlin, however, cast a spell upon Percy's spirit, enabling it to return to the Earthly plane when the spirit of Mordred threatened. Sir Percy's body was buried beneath his castle, and his sword interred with him.
There is no record of any of Sir Percy's descendants discovering the Ebony Sword of following in his footsteps as the Black Knight until the Twelfth Century when Eobar Garrington assumed the guise of the Knight in order to fight in the Crusades. Curiously, the spirit of a twentieth Century descendant of Garrington's, Dane Whitman, co-occupied Garrington's body during the last five years of the Crusades. Whitman possessed the body up until the time of its death. The Twelfth Century Black Knight was an ally of King Richard the Lion-Hearted.
There is no record of the activities of any of Garrington's descendants until the mid-Twentieth Century. Then British scientist Nathan Garrett discovered the tomb of Sir Percy beneath the castle he had inherited (now called Garrett Castle). Garrett saw the Ebony Blade in a scabbard near the tomb, but being unworthy to wield it, could not draw the sword. Garrett was inspired to become the new Black Knight, however, and he used his scientific genius to mutate a winged horse and to create a lance capable of discharging concussive blast as well as other advanced weaponry. Garrett used the identity of the Black Knight to commit crimes in order to finance his further scientific research. He was opposed on separate occasions by Giant-Man and Iron Man, and as a member of Baron Heinrich Zemo's original Masters of Evil, he battled the Avengers. While in aerial combat with Iron Man, Garrett was unseated from his winged steed and was mortally wounded in the fall. He managed to contact his only living relative, his sister's son. Dane Whitman, also a scientist. On his deathbed, Garrett told Whitman he regretted the wrongs he committed and wished for his nephew to put his discoveries to good use. Whitman decided to improve unpon his uncle's work and assume the identity of the Black Knight. Using his uncle's notes, Whitman mutated a winged steed to replace his uncle's horse, who had flown away and, having been further mutated, is now in the possession of the Dreadknight.
Whitman first went into action as the Black Knight in order to warn the Avengers that the mutant Magneto had taken two of their member, Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch, captive. He was mistaken for his criminal uncle, however, and after a brief skirmish parted with the Avengers on bad terms. He next appeared to warn the Avengers about a new grouping of the Masters of Evil, which he had infiltrated, and succeeded in rescuing them from their clutches. Learning that he had inherited Garrett Castle, Whitman traveled to England with the intent to sell the property. However, while taking a tour of the place, Whitman stumbled upon the tomb of Sir Percy and was contacted by the ghost of his ancestor. Sir Percy explained to him the origins of his noble lineage and told him of the Ebony Sword. When Whitman tried to draw it from its scabbard, he succeeded where his uncle had failed. After successfully battling the demonic guardian of the sword, Whitman left the castle with the enchanted blade and soon found himself drawn into battle with Le Sabre, a modern day agent of Mordred. Defeating Le Sabre, the knight resolved not to sell his castle.
He accompanied the WHO delegation to Muir Island to relocate the Warpies.

THE MAD THINKER Real Name: Unknown Affiliation: Professional Criminal Mastermind Powers: Super-Intelligence
The origin of the Mad Thinker is unknown. He led an extraordinarily successful criminal career without the police ever learning he was a criminal, thanks to the brilliance of his strategies. Aided by his advanced computers, the Thinker could predict the probably course of events virtually down to the smallest detail, and used this knowledge in planning his crimes. (He calls himself the Thinker; however, once he became publicly known as a criminal, his superhuman opponents and the news media labeled him "the Mad Thinker," much to his continued exasperation.)
Eventually the Thinker met with many of the country's leading crime bosses to tell them of his plan to seize control of New York City and turn it into an independent nation with himself as its ruler. The crime bosses would serve to enforce his rule. To rid himself of the probable opposition of the Fantastic Four, who were then the only New York City based team of superhuman crimefighters, the Thinker arranged for each of the team members to be offered a highly attractive job. The four teammates accepted the offers, but while they were gone from their Baxter Building headquarters, the Thinker and his allies took it over. The Thinker thus gained access to the knowledge and equipment of the Fantastic Four's leader Reed Richards, a scientific genius. Using this information the Thinker constructed the first of his superhuman androids. When the Fantastic Four returned, the Thinker used the android and Richards' own weaponry to battle them. But Richards defeated the Thinker by arranging to have a circuit breaker activated that rendered all of Richards' electronic equipment and weaponry useless. Thus the Thinker was sent to prison apparently for the first time.
Since then the Thinker has clashed unsuccessfully many times with the Fantastic Four and other superhuman adventurers, including the Avengers, Iron Man, Spider-Man, the Sub-Mariner, and the X-Men. He once attempted to conquer the world in league with his occasional partner the Puppet Master and the criminal scientist Egghead. However, usually the Thinker directs his crimes towards three other goals: the accumulation of further knowledge (as in his continued attempts to steal Reed Richards' scientific secrets), the amassing of great wealth, and vengeance on the Fantastic Four. The Thinker once found and revived the original android Human Torch to use him as a weapon against the Fantastic Four. After the original Torch was apparently destroyed, the Thinker turned him over to the robotic Ultron. The Thinker also brainwashed the original Torch's partner, Toro, into serving him, although Toro later broke free of his control.
Strength Level: The Mad Thinker possesses the normal human strength of a man of his age, height, and build who engages in no regular exercise.
Known Superhuman Powers: None
Abilities: The Mad Thinker has great intellectual and cognitive abilities, as well as vast mechanical genius. His brain is so naturally adept at higher mathematics that he can perform unaided mental calculations such as finding large, complex, and imaginary square roots, solving algebraic equations including vectors, Boolean logic, probability and statistics, differential and integral calculus, and computing analytic functions. He has an eidetic memory, and is able to recall 99.99% of everything he sees, hears, or reads. The Mad Thinker's brain is like an organic computer. By "programming" it with all the relevant data possible, he is able to mentally calculate event probabilities to two decimal places. The only thing that ever works against his probability forecasts is what he calls the x-factor, certain variables of which he is unaware and thus is unable to use in his computations. The Mad Thinker is not an intuitive genius like Reed Richards, capable of creating and inventing: he can only synthesize for his own use what has already been created or invented by others. Although the Thinker has mastered many areas of science, his specialties are computer design, in which he has no known equals, and robotics. However, he has apparently contributed no original discoveries to any of these areas.
Weapons: The Mad Thinker uses many computers to gather and store information for him. These computers constantly augment his base of knowledge about the world around him and recheck his mental calculations to eliminate as much error as possible.
He generally does not confront his opponents directly so he does not carry many weapons on his person. His only frequently used personal weapon is a monocle-sized hypno-lens, capable of mesmerizing anyone who looks at it. To perform his fieldwork, the Thinker employs a variety of androids. The Thinker stole the basic design for constructing androids from Reed Richards. However, drawing upon other sources of information, the Thinker has created androids that are much more powerful than any that Richards is known to have constructed. His first and most frequently employed artificial automaton is the "Awesome" Android, a 15foot tall malleable humanoid capable of mimicking other torms and powers. He has also created the Quasi-Motivational Destruct Organ ("Quasimodo"), android duplicates of the Fantastic Four, simulacra of various great thinkers from human history, super-powerful android assassins, and numerous medium-power servant androids to tend to his personal comforts and professional needs.
At present, the Thinker has a surgically implanted, biochemically powered, high-frequency, pulse-code modulated radio link to his laboratories, permitting him to be in mental contact with the full range of his private facilities while serving his sentence in prison. This link also enables him to project his consciousness from his body into an android simalcrum of himself. Hence he can still conduct criminal activities even while his body remains in its prison cell.

PRIMUS Real Name: Priums Affiliation: Ally of the Mad Thinker and Baron Zemo Powers: Artificial Lifeform capable of changing its shape
Primus is the most sophisticated genetic creation of the Swiss master geneticists Arnim Zola. Zola, who utilized scientific knowledge amassed by the genetic offshoot of humanity called the Deviants, became an expert at engineering bioforms from living cells (usually human) according to whatever template he desired. Certain of his bioforms, notably Primus and Doughboy, were given malleable tissue able to shape-change into various configurations.
Primus was the first of Zola's creations who possessed creative intelligence and a high degree of autonomy. When Zola captured the hero Captain America and woman Donna Maria Puentes with the aid of Doughboy and Primus, Primus discovered he experienced desire for the woman. Zola wished to use her for genetic experimentation, however, and refused to let Primus have her. Enraged, Primus attacked Zola. Zola used his will-subverting ESP box to make Primus merge with the extremely pliant and nearly mindless Doughboy.
Eventually Primus took control of Doughboy and escaped from Zola's castle which was engulfed by flames at the end of Zola's first encounter with Captain America. There Primus met the younger Baron Zemo, who had journeyed to Castle Zola to enlist Zola in his crusade against Captain America. Primus joined him instead, using his shape-shifting powers to take on the shape of Amim Zola. Zemo's plan was to totally ruin Captain America's reputation before killing him. Holding the Avenger captive, Zemo sent Primus, in the form of Steve Rogers, Captain America's secret identity, to appropriate his private life and totally subvert all of his personal relationships. However, when Primus met Steve Rogers' girlfriend Bernadette Rosenthal, he again felt desire and decided to continue the masquerade without disrupting it in order to have her love. Captain America escaped from Zemo's lair, and forced Primus to reveal who he really was. Primus managed to abduct Rosenthal and flee from the hero, affording him the opportunity to reveal to her his desire to unite natural and artificial men to create a new order to save the planet. He also wanted to give Rosenthal a new mutated body like his. Captain America tracked him down, and engaged Primus in combat. Although Primus's great strength and malleability gave him the upper hand, Rosenthal provoked him to give up the fight by rejecting him and professing her love for Captain America.
Powers
Primus is an artificial lifeform capable of changing its shape to any form it can imagine. It possesses superhuman strength, endurance, regenerative properties and resistance to physical attack.

GAMBIT Real Name: Remy LeBeau Affiliation: Theives Guild of New Orleans Powers: Molecular Acceleration; Hypnotic Charm
History: A homeless boy wandering the streets, Gambit was adopted by Jean-Luc LeBeau, head of the council of the Thieves Guild, a criminal organization based in New Orleans. As part of a peace pact between the Thieves Guild and their rivals, the Assassins Guild, a marriage was arranged between Gambit and Bella Donna Boudreaux, the granddaughter of the head of the Assassins. However, Bella Donna's brother Julien objected to the marriage and challenged Gambit to a duel. Severely wounding Julien, Gambit was forced to flee New Orleans to prevent war between the two guilds.
Gambit wandered the world as he plied his skills as a master thief, aided by his mutant power to charge objects with explosive energy. He employed playing cards he charged with kinetic energy as his trademark weapon. At one point Gambit agreed to assemble the team of assassins called the Marauders for Mister Sinister. Gambit did not realize that Sinister would employ the Marauders to massacre the underground mutant community called the Morlocks.
Gambit was discovered by the Muir Island New Mutants when he tried to infiltrate the Mutant Research Center.
Powers
Molecular Acceleration: Remy has the power to take the potential energy stored in an object and convert it to kinetic energy thus “charging” that item with explosive results. He prefers to charge smaller objects, such as his ever-present playing cards, as the time required to charge them is greatly reduced and they are much easier for him to throw. The only real limitation to this ability is the time required to charge the object. The larger it is the more time it takes.[43]
Most charging takes place through direct skin contact. The power of his explosions is dependent on the mass of the object he is charging, for example, a charged playing card explodes with the force of a grenade. He typically cannot utilize his powers on living matter or organic molecules.[44]
These powers have been altered on various occasions; sometimes bolstered while other times weakened.[45][34] They were most notably augmented once by Sage to enable him to accelerate his own regeneration process and better control his kinetic shifting.[46] And again by Faiza when he was shot through the head by a crime lord and spat a bullet back at him that eviscerated the later.[47] ◾Dissolution: Gambit can also cause objects to pull themselves apart instead of exploding violently making them harmlessly melt down to nothing. Once having focused charging on dissolving shrapnel in a victims stomach and at times when jumpstarted able to overcharge falling debris from crumbling buildings. His control over this has increased to the point he can shatter ice he was encased in without blowing up.[47] ◾Disruption: Gambit can tame his explosive acceleration to temporarily scramble a persons sensory awareness knocking them out cold.[48] ◾Enhanced Conditioning: Gambit's ability to tap energy also grants him increased speed, strength, reflexes and reactions, flexibility, dexterity, coordination, balance, and endurance as a side effect.[45][49] Bestowing him an added edge he has used to his advantage by developing a unique acrobatic fighting style. Under normal circumstances, the physical "charge" he receives makes his abilities exceptional, but not quite superhuman.[50] ◾Accelerating Regeneration: Gambit can enhance his own recovery rate by stimulating his own cellular activity. Through this process having once healed after removing a bone slag lodged in his chest,[13] and again when his eyes were damaged by a charged card exploding in his face; Sage had augmented his powers enabling him to restore his sight indicating his regenerative powers are innate yet sparsely used.[46] ◾Enhancement: Can supercharge the energy both converted and accelerated to get more of a bang out of even the smallest objects as well as giving them greater concussive or stopping power.[47] ◾Static Interference: Creates natural static, because of the charged potential energy always in his body, that shields his mind from intrusion by telepaths. Can increase the effect by holding a charged object near his head.[51] Although reportedly uncomfortable for the parties involved, this shield does not totally prevent telepathic invasion.[52] ◾Vibration Emission: Gambit, through the kinetic acceleration instead of conversion can emit a shockwave accompanying a bright flashbang which leaves a sizable crater in the ground.[53] ◾Sheering/Cutting: By charging his cards, Remy can use them to slice through objects as dense as solid steel without worry of it exploding.[45]
Hypnotic Charm: Subliminal psionic talent channeled through his voice that allows a subtle influence over any sentient mind. This power allows Gambit to compel others to believe what he says and agree with anything he suggests.[43] More powerful minds have proven immune to Gambit's charm, and people who are consciously aware of what he's doing can shake off the effects.[54]
Abilities
Bilingual: He is fluent in English and Cajun French.[50] He also knows some Japanese though is not very fluent.[citation needed]
Master Marksman: He is extremely skilled in throwing small objects such as cards, bolas, knives, and balls with great accuracy.[50]
Master Martial Artist: Though not on the same level as the likes of Captain America, he is still a profound fighter, often employing martial arts, street fighting, and acrobatics. He is well adept in the martial arts Savate (French kickboxing), and Bojutsu, the art of using a Bo staff. Nick Fury even referred to Gambit as "One of the best hand to hand fighters I've ever seen."[citation needed]
Master Stick Fighter: Remy's extreme skills in bojutsu makes him dangerously skilled in the use of his bo staff.[63]
Master Thief
Weapons
Gambit usually employs throwing spikes and playing cards. He also often uses a telescoping bo-staff.

ARNIM ZOLA Real Name: Arnim Zola Affiliation: Biochemist and one-time ally of the Red Skull Powers: Mental Control, Genetically Enhanced Body
History: Arnim Zola was a biochemist who began his experiments in genetic engineering in the late 1930s upon discovering a cache of ancient scientific papers in his ancestral castle in Switzerland. The documents, brought to the castle by Zola's ancestors during the Crusades, were written in the ancient language of the Deviants, a strange offshoot of mainstream humanity who had been performing genetic research for millennia. After decoding the papers, Zola used the advanced knowledge contained therein to perform experiments to create artificial life. Soon succeeding in fashioning even more sophisticated lifeforms, Zola became the first human genetic engineer in history, his work predating that of the High Evolutionary by about a decade.
Among Zola's original accomplishments was the construction of a brain pattern-imprinting device by which the essence, memories, and personality of the one mind could be totally transferred to another. Soon a completing this device, he went to Adolf Hitler with it, hoping to secure funds from Nazi Germany to expand his research. Hitler was intrigued by Zola's work and submitted himself to Zola's treatment. Consequently, when Hitler was slain in his bunker by the android Human Torch, he was able to project his mental essence into a clone brain in Zola's laboratory.
Born with a frail, dwarfish body, Zola used his scientific skills to genetically fashion a new stronger body for himself. Having done so, Zola used the mind-transferrence technique he devised to project his mind into the cloned brain of his new body, a brain that he situated in the chest cavity where it would be more protected. Since the brains of all of his genetic creations were grown from cells of his own, he can mentally project his intelligence into any of his creations.
Later, Zola cloned various bodies for his patron, Adolf Hitler, to enable the Nazi leader to survive in various guises in the decades since his physical death.
Unusual Features: Zola has an ESP Box instead of a head. A three-dimensional hologram of his original face appears in a viewscreen on his chest. The ESP Box enables Zola to see and hear by psychic means, as well as to control his genetic creations telepathically.
Strength Level: Arnim Zola possesses the normal human strength of a male athlete in his prime, despite the fact that he does not exercise and is over a half-century-old.
Known Superhuman Powers: Arnim Zola possesses the ability to mentally control his various genetic creations by means of the ESP Box mounted atop his torso and surgically attached to his central nervous system. Although most of the creatures possess limited intelligence and the capacity for creative thought, Zola can override their mental processes if he so desires. The ESP Box is a retractable device that can convert brain waves into electronic signals for transmission as telepathic commands within ordinary radio range. Normally, Zola is capable of controlling only his own organic creations, but if he remains linked to his support equipment, he can stimulate his own mental power to such a degree that he can create a psychonkinetic network able to animate inorganic matter within radio range. Zola is unable to control natural organic life.
Abilities: Arnim Zola possesses genius-level intelligence and scientific skills.
Equipment: Zola employs a mental commands to his creations in the form of energy bolts of approximately 100,00 volts. Similar in purpose to the ESP Box, the prod is limited in range to 18 feet and can only work on his own organic creations.
When Primus the Android invaded Muir Island, he told Briar Patch that he was created by Arnim Zola.

AARKUS Real Name: Formerly known as Vision Affiliation: Formerly a member of the Invaders Powers: Smoke/Vapor/Gas Control; Teleportation, Flight, Telepathy, Superhuman Attributes
The Vision was a "Keeper of Law" on Smokeworld and was responsible for capturing the criminal who committed the first murder on Smokeworld in centuries. The Vision, assisted by the "Law-Giver", was looking for a suitable place of banishment for the murderer when he lucked into contact with an Earth scientist by the name of Markham Erickson. Erickson had pierced the spatial/dimensional barriers and asked the Vision to come to Earth to act as a super-powered guardian over humanity. The Vision's first attempt to come to Earth resulted in him going to Jupiter, where he left the murderer. The incident inspired him to devote himself to fighting crime.
Months after this encounter in November of 1940, the Vision was brought to Earth once again by Enoch Mason's "Dimensional Smasher" device. When mobster Brains Borelli sought to eliminate Mason and his daughter Sheila, for their inability to pay back the loan that Enoch got to fund his experiments, the Vision came to their aid. After the Vision turned Borelli over to the authorities he became became an ally to the Masons.
During this time, the Vision fought crime in the area, and adopted a human guise of "Mr. Aarkus", remaining close with the Masons. The Vision and Sheila grew to be very close while Enoch continued his studies of the Vision's home dimension. When a mobster named O'Shaugnessy sent one of his minions to learn the connection between the Masons and the Vision, the resulting attack on the Mason home caused Enoch's device to be opened unleashing a Kalimachh from the Smoke Dimension on Earth. The Vision killed the creature, but Enoch's device was destroyed in the process, trapping the Vision on Earth. The Vision considered this a whim of fate, and was glad to be among friends such as the Masons.
However, despite these friends the Vision ceased using a human guise and continued his quest to battle evil. This caused him to drift away from the Masons becoming a mysterious guardian of those in need, disappearing as quickly as he came to peoples aid.
World War II
Solo Adventures
The Vision had many solo adventures on Earth fighting foes that ranged from the paranormal, to the average criminal, as well as Nazi and Imperial Japanese during World War II.
The Vision battled the werewolves Gordon and Llhupa Sanders, phony mystic Rhamu Rondi, a horde of Dinosaurs hatched from prehistoric eggs, mobster Vince Garone, crooked politician Tim Skelly and his partner Heinie Mayers.
In May of 1941, the Vision officially got involved in World War II when he appeared in a Nazi concentration camp to rescue Professor Bauer, who was imprisoned there for his outspoken writings against the Nazi regime. The Vision broke Bauer out of the camp and assisted him in fleeing to Portugal.[10] Later, investigating a series of "vampire murders" in Star City, the Vision faced the living plant Florus Homo, killing the murderous creature[11]. After this, the Vision exposed a corrupt builder who used shoddy material to build a school.
The Vision then began to face strange paranormal foes such as the ancient magician Khor of the ageless land, African shark-god Kai-Mak, Grosso from the "Dimension of War Dust", black arts practitioner Enric Zagnar, giant plant creatures accidentally created by Professor Rudolf Norsen, and the demons of Hades Inc. When clashing with the soul stealing scientist Professor Igor Koreau, the Vision also battled the so-called Guardian of the Spirit World in order to rescue the souls that Korbeau had taken. Following those adventures, the Vision began to once more face more mundane foes such as mobster Legs Cochone, and the saboteur known as the Crank.
By May of 1942, the Vision once again began focusing his crusade on the Axis Powers. He clashed with Imperial Japanese forces when he stopped their monstrous creation the Jelly Men. On the Pacific coast, he helped a government agent defend Santa Cruz from attacks by Japanese subs disguised as sharks. In New York, the Vision defended the city from giant octopuses created by a Nazi mad scientist.
Later, he clashed with the Beast of Cactus Canyon, carnivorous plant breeder Kamentin, defended the citizens of New York from the Sewer People, and apprehended mobster Joe Marone while posing as a young boy's genie. After, he clashed with mad scientist Maxim Dreer, exposed murdering playwright Horace Smith, the so-called Monster of Negley Hall, the Master of Madness, and thwarted an invasion of Earth by the so called "Asteroid Monsters".
In the spring of 1943 the Vision appeared in Egypt where he stopped Nazi sympathizer Professor Rocher from using the "Gas of Evil" found in an Egyptian crypt to enslave the world. He later clashed with the jewel thief Seni Karlan, defended the Pillow of Life and Death from Japanese agents, and rescued American envoy John Adams from Imperial Japanese forces. He next led a group of angry miners whose coworkers were injured by mobster Lucky Wilson, who in turn was hired by a Nazi agent. Vision once more battled against Nazi forces.
Invaders
Aarkus later accompanied Captain America, the Invaders and a cadre of other super heroes in an assault on a Nazi stronghold.
Later still, Aarkus was actually forced by Dr. Death, who had created aversion of Dr. Erickson's machine, of the Battle-Axis under threat of being trapped forever on Earth, to fight against the heroic Invaders. However, in the ensuing battle, Dr. Death's machine was destroyed, generating enough smoke to allow Aarkus a route home. To redeem himself somewhat, when he departed, he took along the poison gas which the villains had pumped into the room to kill the Invaders.
Aarkus was on board the craft that was delivering newly captured Warpies to Castle Dunvegan.
