THE MUIR ISLAND X-MEN
The Muir Island X-Men were a group of mutants and others who came to the defense of Muir Island when the Reavers attacked it in September 1989. Because the X-Men had disappeared and Charles Xavier was in the Shi'ar Star Empire, this group, led by Moira MacTaggert, decided to stay together to protect other mutants from the Reaver Purge and to carry on Xavier's dream of peaceful coexistence between humans and mutants.

The world's foremost expert on genetic mutation and colleague of Charles Xavier, Moira MacTaggert has decided to continue Xavier's dream of creating a world where humans and mutants can peacefully coexist. Her Mutant Research Center on Muir Island is now the headquarters of the most recent X-Men team, as well as a school for the next generation of New Mutants.

The son of a Chinese businessman and a British nurse, David's powers manifested during an assassination attempt on the family while on vacation in India. He escaped, forced to live on the streets where he eventually was forced to fight bloodsport matches for a local crime boss, until he escaped during a police raid. He was taken in by a Buddhist monk who cared for him and helped him come to term with the pain he inflicted while a prisoner.

BRIAR PATCH
Real Name: Lincoln Walker
Age: Physically in his 30's, but has the mind of a teenager

In the 1960's, Lincoln was an African-American inner-city kid whose powers manifested when his botany club was trapped in rooftop greenhouse during a school shooting. An angry mob surrounded the school trying to lynch Lincoln, but Charles Xavier swooped in to save him. Xavier took him back to his school for gifted youngsters, but Lincoln soon began to deteriorate into a vegetative state from which he could not be roused. Unable to find a way to awaken him, Xavier took him to Moira's MacTaggart's world renowned Mutant Research Center on Muir Island. There he remained for 30 years, as a motionless plant, until he awakened by the death of a warpie named Sparkler. Now he is trying to acclimate to his new surroundings as a mutant out of time.

BULLET
Real Name: Greg Hausendorff

Greg was drafted and trained by the Genoshan government from a young age to be an Army Ranger Sniper, his mutant powers developed to cope with the stresses of military service. He's killed without remorse. He has since escaped from Genosha and is the oldest of the group, being 17 years old.

Real Name: Tanya Brooks (formerly known as Silent Knight)

When Tanya's powers manifested at the age of 14, she inadvertently destroyed her family home in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, killing her father and brother in the process. Guilt-ridden, she fled to Tulsa where she became the protector of a small group of vagabond children. Her powers originally manifested as Dark Force Control while she was under the psychic influence of the Shadow King. Now that his influence has been purged from her mind, she has discovered that her true power is to mimic the powers of others. She also gained the ability to speak again after escaping from the Shadow King's influence.

When Billy's mutant abilities manifested, he left his family in Chicago, IL and wandered across the Atlantic, following his new senses, until they lead him to Muir Island. Billy is able to detect mutant abilities as energy fractals. He can manipulate those fractals in order to nullify a mutants powers or amplify them. Recently he has discovered that this ability also makes him ideally suited to study magic and has begun an apprenticeship under Doctor Strange.

A child born to a “welfare mom” of unknown father. At age 13 her learning improved so much from her usual stupidity that she was expelled for “aceing” all her courses. Soon afterwards she was approached by Charles Xavier who gave her a full scholarship to the Xavier Institute. Tessa was a member of the original New Mutants who were formed in 1983. She left the school when Magneto took over as headmaster in 1985. She has recently been contacted by Moira MacTaggert and invited to come to Muir Island.

WOLVERINE

Born with super-human senses and the power to heal from almost any wound, Wolverine was captured by a secret Canadian organization and given an unbreakable skeleton and claws. Treated like an animal, it took years for him to control himself.
Wolverine was part of the second iteration of the X-Men, recruited by Xavier to rescue the original members who were trapped on Krakoa. Wolverine served on the X-Men for many years through different line-ups. When the current X-Men vanished, Wolverine was on a leave of absence. When searching for him, he was captured and crucified by Donald Pierce and his Reavers. He barely escaped alive, with the help of Jubilee, and together, the two of them travelled to Muir Island.
Wolverine can't help but blame himself for the X-Men's disappearance. If only he'd been there, then perhaps things would have been different. Now he'll stop at nothing to find out where they are.
THE WHITE QUEEN
Real Name: Emma Frost
Affiliation: The Muir Island X-Men, Formerly the Hellfire Club
Powers: Telepathy
Formerly the White Queen of the Hellfire Club's Inner Circle, Emma Frost recruited young superhuman mutants and trained them in the use of their powers at her school so that they might use those powers on the Inner Circle's behalf. Most of these mutant students were members of a team called the Hellions.
When the Muir Island New Mutants were attacked by the Hellions in the Library of Thoth, Wolverine decided to visit Emma Frost at the Massachusetts Academy in order to get some answers. Frost decided to ally with the Muir Island X-Men in order to find and rescue her Hellions from the Goblyn Queen.
Now that the Hellions have been rescued, she and her students have remained on Muir Island, working in conjunction with the X-Men and the New Mutants.

May'lani is the adopted daughter of Imperial Guard Candidate Thermo of the Kelium Patriarchal Configuration. No other members of her species are known to exist. Always feeling out of place, among her adopted people, she heard of a Xavier's School for the Gifted, where outsiders and people who were different were accepted. She ran away from home when her father enrolled her at the university on Sarium Five, and came to Earth hoping to join the X-Men. Her father pursued her with soldiers, where they encountered the Muir Island New Mutants. Thermo told her that the New Mutants would never accept her if they saw her true form: a non-humanoid tentacloid formation. But Joule offered her a place at Muir Island and she wholeheartedly accepted.
May'lani is a shapeshifter, but there is always a flaw in her new form, revealing a tentacle of some kind.
JUBILEE
Real Name: Jubilation Lee

Born the daughter of prosperous Chinese immigrants, young Jubilation "Jubilee" Lee was sent to an exclusive Beverly Hills school, where her talent for gymnastics was discovered. Jubilee spent much of her time rollerblading with friends at the local mall, but ultimately ran afoul of mall security. Facing juvenile detention if caught, Jubilee panicked and first manifested her mutant ability to generate explosive energy.
Soon after, her parents were mistakenly killed by hitmen. Jubilee fled to the only home she had left - the mall. She survived as a petty thief and street performer, but mall security eventually tired of her eluding capture and called in a team of novice mutant hunters, the M-Squad. That same day, the mall was visited by the female members of the X-Men. When the M-Squad attacked Jubilee, the X-Men came to her aid and then left via a portal created by Gateway.
Intrigued, Jubilee followed them through and arrived at the X-Men's base in outback Australia. She lived in the tunnels beneath the town until the X-Men disappeared, after which their former member Wolverine returned to the town and was ambushed by the cyborg Reavers, who crucified him. Jubilee helped him to escape and stayed by his side while he recovered from his ordeal, forming a close bond. The two travelled across the continents together until they arrived at Muir Island.
MINDJACK
Real Name: Donovan Manchester
Age: 15

Donovan was born in Chatanooga, TN, the son of a Baptist Minister. He and his family were active anti-mutant activists, and they were scandalized when Donovan's mutant powers manifested. They called the government hotline on mutants and reported their own son, who was then taken away and transferred to Freedom Force's secret base at Area 51. Mindjack was taken from Area 51 to Muir Island when the New Mutants escaped from Freedom Force. Donovan continues to think that mutant abilities are gifts from Satan and anyone who uses them are sinners.

Angela was a native of Chicago, IL and went to school with Fractal at Reavis High School in Burbank. When her mutant powers manifested, animals became friendly with her. She was in denial that she was a mutant, thinking at first that she just had a natural talent with animals. Now, that she knows she's a mutant, she's still in denial. She blames Fractal for making her a mutant. She was captured by Freedom Force and taken to their secret base at Area 51 after the Chicago Incident. Angela was taken from Area 51 to Muir Island when the New Mutants escaped from Freedom Force.
QUANTUM

Fractal's sister Mary had been distraught ever since her brother Billy manifested as a mutant and disappeared. Her Time Control powers erupted, freezing the entire school in a static time bubble. (And also attracting a mutant ancestor of hers from the future, named Quark). Freedom Force captured her and transferred her to their secret base at Area 51. Mary was taken from Area 51 to Muir Island when the New Mutants escaped from Freedom Force.

His powers manifested and he pushed the water away from the beach so that his friends could be saved. He was later captured by Freedom Force and taken to their secret base on Area 51. Brent was taken from Area 51 to Muir Island when the New Mutants escaped from Freedom Force

Real Name: John Bender

Powers: Living tear in the fabric of space.
Born in Tusla, Oklahoma, John was a juvenile delinquent from a broken home and a high-school drop-out. When his powers manifested, his life became even worse. His body became a living tear in the fabric of space, causing him to cut anything he touches.
The player characters rescued him from a research center where he had was about to be experimented on by a scientist whose daughter had been severely injured in an accident. John was to be harvested for his body and his powers.

Calvin was born in Atlanta, Georgia and was deeply influenced by his uncle's stories of knowing Malcom X and being a part of the Civil Rights movement. Calvin began to read everything he could on black activism. In his senior year in high school, ex Klu Klux Klan leader Duke Davidson ran for Governor of Georgia, causing tensions to rise. Calvin's sonic powers manifested during a Davidson political rally, where Calvin shouted down Davidson's hate-filled speech. His new sonic powers deafened the audience and shook the building. Calvin was arrested as a dangerous mutant and transferred to Freedom Force's secret base on Area 51. Calvin was taken from Area 51 to Muir Island when the New Mutants escaped from Freedom Force.

Real Name: Princess Taiyo

Because of the danger posed to mutants by the world-wide Reaver attacks, Emperor Akihito of Japan, decided that his mutant niece would be safest on Muir Island. Taiyo is a Japanese princess, a Shinto priestess, and widely believed by the Imperial family to be directly descended from the goddess Ameratsu. She can control a energy field that acts like fire, but produces physical force as well as heat.
Japanese hero and former X-Man Sunfire has come to Muir Island with her at the Emperor's behest to insure her safety. Taiyo has two teenage handmaidens, Miho and Yuka.
