CATSEYE Real Name: Unknown Affiliation: The Hellions Powers: Ailuranthropy
The mutant named Catseye was one of the original members of the Hellions, the team of adolescent mutants formed by the Hellfire Club's then-White Queen, Emma Frost. Catseye was abandoned at birth, presumably due to her very visible feline mutation, and was raised by a cat who acted as her surrogate mother. In fact, Catseye originally thought herself to be a cat with the ability to take human form until she was found by Frost. Given the name Sharon Smith by Frost, the young mutant soon became emotionally attached to Frost, regarding her as a new surrogate mother.
Catseye was a mutant with the superhuman ability to transform herself into a lavender-furred feline humanoid form with enhanced strength, senses, and agility. In her feline form, Catseye's strength was roughly equal to that of a large tiger's. She also possessed razor-sharp claws, and was able to walk up walls with the aid of her prehensile tail.

JETSTREAM Real Name: Haroun ibn Sallah al-Rashid Affiliation: The Hellions Powers: Thermo-chemical Energy Generation
Jetstream was a member of the original group of Hellions, the trainee group of mutants set up by the Hellfire Club and led by Emma Frost to be a rival to the New Mutants.
Jetstream is a Moor and a Berber who greatly enjoyed using his power to fly. But his body was unable to withstand the tremendous energies he generated, and one day his flesh caught fire as he flew. To save him and to enable him to use his powers, the Hellfire Club had him turned into a cyborg. As a result, Jetstream felt himself bound by his sense of honor to serve the Hellfire Club for the rest of his life.
Jetstream can generate thermo-chemical energy and release it from his skin. This energy is accompanied by plasma. So far Jetstream can only release this energy in one direction, beneath him. The equal opposite reaction to this thrust causes his body to be propelled into the air like a human rocket. However, his body was unable to withstand the tremendous energies he generated—one day his flesh even caught fire as he flew. To save him and enable him to use his power, the Hellfire Club provided Jetstream with a bionic system that enabled him to contain, focus, and control his power. Among these systems was a bionic backpack that could fold away into his body which contained computerized scanning devices and aerial navigation.

Tarot's original look Tarot's current look now that she has been empowered by the Madelyne Pyror TAROT Real Name: Marie-Ange Colbert Affiliation: The Hellions Powers: Precognition; Psionic Will-Based Constructs, Flight
Tarot was a member of the original Hellions, of French origin. Unlike some of the more mean-spirited Hellions (namely Empath, and Roulette), Tarot was generally good-natured.
Tarot could materialize and animate tangible images of the 2-D avatars/images on her tarot cards. Once materialized they are completely under her mental control and could do her bidding. The images were able to enter battle for her, protect her or even aid her in flight. They were not invincible but actually Energy/Will based constructs. If hit with enough force whether physical or psionic they would disperse.
Tarot worked with the Goblyn Queen to steal a stone tablet from the Library of Thoth. When the Muir Island New Mutants confronted them, Tarot fled with the Goblyn Queen to the Washington Monument in Washington D.C., where they attempted to cast some sort of spell using the tablet. The ritual interrupted, however, by the Muir Island New Mutants.

When the New Mutants first found Storm, she had been de-aged to a teenager Storm after being transformed by Loki into the Goddess of Thunder Storm now that she has rejoined the X-Men STORM Real Name: Ororo Monroe Affiliation: The Muir Island X-Men Powers: Weather Control
Storm is the descendant of an ancient line of African priestesses, all of whom have white hair, blue eyes, and the potential to wield magic. Her mother, N'Dare, was the princess of a tribe in Kenya. She married the American photojournalist David Munroe and moved with him to Manhattan, where Ororo was born.
When Ororo was six months old, she and her parents moved to Cairo, Egypt. Five years later, a bomb destroyed their home. Ororo's parents were killed, but she survived, buried under rubble near her mother's body. This traumatizing effect left Ororo with the severe claustrophobia that still afflicts her today.
Homeless and orphaned, Ororo, came under the tutelage of master thief Achmed el-Gibar. She became his prize pupil in thievery and in picking locks.
Years later, feeling a strong urge to go south, Ororo journeyed alone across the Sahara Desert and finally reached her ancestors' homeland, the Serengeti Plain, which lies in the modern nations of Kenya and Tanzania. By this time her mutant power to control the weather had emerged, and she used them to help the local tribes, who worshipped her as a goddess.
Ororo remained with the tribes for years until Professor Charles Xavier recruited her into the new team of X-Men he was assembling. She was given the code name "Storm" after her power to affect the weather.
Storm was one of the X-Men who disappeared, when the current team vanished from their headquarters in the Austrailian Outback during a Reaver attack. The Muir Island Cerebro Unit detected her in Cairo, during a period of unrest. Wolverine and the Muir Island New Mutants travelled to Cairo to find her, eventually tracking her to the ruins of the Temple of Thoth at Hermopolis Magna. There, they discovered that Storm had been de-aged to become a teenager, and was helping the Goblyn Queen and the Hellions steal an ancient stone tablet from the Library of Thoth.

THE GOBLYN QUEEN Real Name: Madelyne Pryor Affiliation: The Hordes of Limbo Powers: Telekinesis, Telepathy, Reality Warping, Sorcery
By somehow obtaining a sample of Jean Grey's cells. Mister Sinister created an adult clone of her. When the original Phoenix committed suicide, Scott believed he had lost Jean forever, unaware that her original body lay in suspended animation in a pod at the bottom of the sea. Sinister grew his clone at an accelerated rate in his laboratory. He named her "Madelyne Pryor" and programmed her with false memories and the desire to fall in love with Cyclops. When Phoenix died, its share of the real Jean's consciousness traveled back to Earth. This part of Jean's psyche eventually reached the clone that Sinister had created and endowed it with consciousness for the first time. Sinister then planned for Madelyne to bear a child, which would possess the superhuman genetic potential of both Scott and Jean. The evil mutant would then capture the child and control it as it grew up. Scott Summers first met Madelyne Pryor in Alaska, where she was working as a pilot for North Star Airways, the company run by his grandparents. Scott and Madelyne were married when he became convinced that she was not Jean Grey, Madelyne's exact lookalike. The scheme started successfully: Cyclops married Madelyne, and they had a child.
When the real Jean returned, Cyclops rushed to her side. Madelyne's own psi powers began to emerge, and she took refuge with the X-Men. But then the demon N'astirh sent her dreams which aroused the dark side of her psyche. Her powers fully awakened, Madelyne became the mad Goblyn Queen and attempted to take revenge on Cyclops. Instead, Madelyne perished in combat with the original Jean.
Madelyne possessed the same telepathic and telekinetic powers as Jean Grey, although her lack of training made her weaker. She also received a small portion of the Phoenix's power and memories when it began searching for Jean. As the Goblyn Queen, she was able to draw upon the Goblyn Force. This let her summon various goblins and other entities. She also could fly, create powerful concussive force blast and shield herself within forcefields by using her psionic abilities
When the Muir Island New Mutants found Storm in the Library of Thoth, she was working with the Goblyn Queen, who somehow had returned to life. The Goblyn Queen and the Hellions stole an ancient stone tablet from the Library of Thoth and attempted to perform a magical ritual over the Washington Monument, until they were stopped by the Muir Island New Mutants.

THE WHITE QUEEN Real Name: Emma Frost Affiliation: The Muir Island New Mutants, Formerly the Hellfire Club Powers: Telepathy
Emma Frost is a leading member of an old Boston mercantile family which arrived from England in the 1600s. She inherited a good deal of wealth, but most of her large fortune is the result of her business successes. She rose rapidly through the world of business thanks to her intelligence, drive, personal charm, and her secret use of her psionic abilities. She eventually became the majority stockholder of a multi-billion dollar conglomerate, which has been renamed Frost International after herself. Despite her youth, she is now a chairperson of the board of Frost International and its chief executive officer. Frost International is principally involved in transportation (both the building of ships and aircraft and their use for freight and passenger transport) and electronics. Emma Frost has also become chairperson of the board of trustees of the Massachusetts Academy, a college preparatory school for grades seven through twelve located in the Berkshire Mountains in Snow Valley, Massachusetts. Frost serves as the academy's headmistress and spends a great deal of her time there.
Emma Frost's beauty and talents brought her an invitation to join the Hellfire Club, an elite social organization of the world's wealthy and powerful figures. Frost became the ally of Sebastian Shaw who was a member of the Club's Council of the Chosen, which secretly conspires to achieve world domination through economic and political means. Like Frost, Shaw was a mutant. The Leaders of the Club and Council, its foremost Lords Cardinal, were the White King Edward Buckman and the White Queen Paris Seville. (The Lords Cardinal are given titles corresponding to the names of chess pieces). Buckman threw the Council's support behind Project Armageddon which was scientist Steven Lang's program to build Sentinel robots and have them hunt down superhuman mutants). Knowing Shaw was himself a mutant Buckman told him that the Project was intended to capture superhuman mutants for use by the council in seeking power. However, Frost, through her psionic powers, learned that the Project was actually intended as a means of destroying all superhuman mutants. Together Shaw and Frost staged a coup that gave them control of the Council of the Chosen, which they renamed the Inner Circle. Shaw took the title of Black King and Frost became the new White Queen.
Under Shaw and Frost, the Inner Circle was dominated by superhuman mutants. Frost recruited young superhuman mutants and trained them in the use of their powers at her school so that they might use those powers on the Inner Circle's behalf. Most of these mutant students were members of a team called the Hellions.
Frost first encountered the team of mutants called the X-Men when she attempted to recruit young mutant Katherine "Kitty" Pryde for her school and captured a number of X-Men. Since then, Frost has crossed paths with the X-Men and their associates, the New Mutants, many times, often as their adversary.
Emma Frost is a mutant who possesses various telepathic talents. Emma can read minds and project her thoughts into the minds of others, project psionic force bolts which have no physical effects but which can affect a victim's mind so as to cause the victim pain or unconsciousness, and can also induce mental pain merely by touching the brow of her victim. Emma can telepathically "sedate" her victims so that, if already rendered unconscious, they remain so for as long as she continues to "sedate" them. It is unknown how effective her "sedating" ability is on victims who are awake.
When the Muir Island New Mutants were attacked by the Hellions in the Library of Thoth, Wolverine decided to visit Emma Frost at the Massachusetts Academy in order to get some answers. Frost decided to ally with the Muir Island X-Men in order to find and rescue her Hellions from the Goblyn Queen.

DOCTOR STRANGE Real Name: Stephen Strange Affiliation: Independent; formerly the Defenders Powers: The Sorcerer Supreme
Stephen Strange was a brilliant but arrogant neurosurgeon whose career was cut short when a car accident resulted in nerve damage to his hands. Thereafter, he was unable even to hold a scalpel. Hoping for a miracle, a despondent Strange traveled to the Himalayas to seek the counsel of the Ancient One, a Tibetan sorcerer. As the Ancient One's guest, Strange learned the sorcerer's pupil Baron Mordo was plotting to kill his mentor. Trying to warn the Ancient One of his student's treachery, Strange was discovered by Mordo and mystically restrained.
Witnessing Mordo's power and discovering his murderous intent shocked the jaded Strange into a realization of evil's true nature and the need to combat its forces. The Ancient One freed Strange from Mordo's spell and revealed he had known his student's treacherous plans all along. Having peered into Strange's soul, the sorcerer saw his potential for great goodness and power, and adopted him as his disciple. When Strange's studies with the Ancient One ended, he returned to New York. Though the world at large believes he is no more than an eccentric occult authority, Dr. Strange has inherited from his mentor the mantle of Earth's Sorcerer Supreme.
When the Omegatron threatened the planet, Dr. Strange joined forces with the Hulk and Namor the Sub-Mariner to defeat the ultimate computer. Thereafter, the loose-knit band of Defenders would unite periodically, coming together to oppose threats to humanity.
Dr. Strange can call upon a great many magical spells, including incantations enabling him to cast illusions and hurl mystical bolts. He wears a cloak of levitation that grants him the power of flight and wields the Eye of Agamotto, which allows him to see through illusions and read minds. Also, he possesses a wide array or arcane texts, artifacts, books and relics.
After stopping the Goblyn Queen and Tarot from performing a mysterious ritual over the Washington Monument, Wolverine, Amanda Sefton and the Muir Island New Mutants consulted Doctor Strange in his Sanctum Sanctorum.

TERRAX Real Name: Tyros Affiliation: Independent; formerly a herald of Galactus Powers: Earth Control, Cosmic Powers, Cosmic Axe
Tyros was originally the dictator of the small city-state Lanlak on the world of Birj (sometimes translated as Terran), a moon of the gas giant Marman in a solar system eighty thousand light years from earth. Tyros ruled through the use of his limited power over earth and rock. This power, which apparently was a mutation unique to Tyros, enabled him to animate constructs of stone, which would patrol his kingdom maintaining his firm control. Tyros loved power and conquest, and led a life of debauchery and violence. Somehow, he came to the attention of Gatactus, the world devourer. Galactus had been seeking a new herald to guide him to fertile planets, which he needed for sustenance. The space being surmised that the common fault in most of his former herald was that their moral values prevented them from fulfilling their duties. For a new herald, Galactus sought an individual who would have no compunction in finding worlds for Galactus to render lifeless.
When the Fantastic Four came to Galactus to ask him for aid in their battle against the Sphinx, Galacius agreed, but only with the condition that the Fantastic Four would journey to Birj and subdue Tyros for him. The Fantastic Four reluctantly did this, and in doing so, they freed the city of Lanlak from Tyros' rule. Brought before Galactus, Tyros was exposed to Galactus' cosmic power, and was transformed into Terrax the Tamer. His minor control over stone was augmented to an incalculable degree. Now, he could affect all matter of rock and stone on nearly a planetary scale. His body was changed so that it would withstand the vacuum of space. Finally, Galactus gave Terrax a weapon called the cosmic axe capable of generating waves of cosmic force.
As Galactus's new herald, Terras found more worlds for his master than any of the previous heralds. Terrax likened the discovery of new planets to the feeling of conquest. On several occasions, Terrax annihilated large segments of the population himself using his cosmic powers. As Galactus had hoped, Terrax's lack of morality made him a successful herald. But whereas Galactus' other heralds had a sense of loyalty to their master, Terrax had none. Indeed, he served Galactus out of fear for his master's power, but even conquered that fear on several occasions to defy Galactus' wishes. Shortly after being transformed into Galactus' herald, Terrax fled from his master and overthrew the ruling body of a small-unnamed planet. He enslaved the entire population and set himself up as the planet's deity.
Huge segments of that world's people died erecting temples and cities to glorify Terrax. Terrax planned to use the survivors of his reign as the first wave of a planned universe conquering army. But before Terrax could proceed any further, Galactus summoned his herald. Fearful of his master's wrath, Terrax hid in a black hole. Utilizing the powers of the Earth mutant Dazzler, Galactus freed Terrax and made him obedient to his will again.
But Terrax's rebellious nature could not be totally stifled, and after a while, Terrax again fled his master. This time, he went to Earth. Utilizing his power, Terrax levitated the entire island of Manhattan into earth orbit and used the lives of its millions of inhabitants to bargain with the Fantastic Four. To spare Manhattan, Terrax demanded that they destroy Galactus by attacking his ship. Galactus had by now realized that his herald had become a liability to him, Returning Manhattan to Earth, Galactus stripped Terrax of his cosmic power and the transformed alien was sent hurtling from the top of the World Trade Center down to the street below. Although seriously injured, Terrax's alien physique enabled him to survive the fall. An unidentified passerby took Terrax's broken form unknown to both the Fantastic Four and the Avengers, who were present at the site, to a nearby hospital. He remained there for several months in a semi comatose state.
Victor von Doom, looking for a pawn to use in a plot against the Fantastic Four, discovered the fact of Terrax's survival. Terrax was kidnapped from the hospital and brought back to Doom's kingdom of Latveria by a squad of robots dispatched by Doom. There, after six weeks of Doom's advanced treatments, Terrax recovered. But, having been stripped of cosmic power, Terrax had no memories of having been the herald of Galactus, and thus called himself Tyros once more. Doom had recently perfected a device that was capable of endowing an individual with limited cosmic power. Tyros readily agreed to be exposed to the device's energies, as he wished revenge against the Fantastic Four. Garbed in a special suit that would channel and regulate the cosmic energies in his body, Tyros set off for New York. Unknown to him, the power Doom gave him would consume Tyros's body within a matter of hours. Thus, Doom would not be faced with an adversary whose power was vaster than his own, once Tyros had served his purpose.
Tyros defeated the Fantastic Four and, detesting the fact he was in the service of any master, he turned on Doom and immobilized the Latverian monarch in his armor. At Tyros's moment of seeming triumph, the Silver Surfer, the first of Galactus's heralds, arrived to save the lives of his friends, the Fantastic Four. Tyros believed that his power level was equal to that of the Surfer's but Tyros was no match for someone who had received cosmic power from Galactus himself. Because of this, Tyros was forced to use his powers to the limit in order to combat the Surfer. This only served to hasten his inevitable deterioration. As the two former heralds of Galactus engaged in battle, Tyros was totally consumed by the "power cosmic."
The Muir Island New Mutants witnessed his return, when his energy signature was detected by Genetech Corporation, who utilized a prototype drone to try to rid Washington Square Park of the radioactive contamination.
