DOCTOR DOOM Real Name: Victor Von Doom Affiliation: Monarch of Latveria Powers: Super-Genius, some Mystical Knowledge
Victor Von Doom was raised by gypsies in a small European county called Latveria. He lost both of his parents at a very young age. Swearing revenge, Victor began to increase both his scientific and mystical knowledge with such determination that he was given a full scholarship to Empire State University. It was at ESU that Victor met Reed Richards and Ben Grimm, and where he started his extradimensional research. Doom's vanity prevented him from adjusting the schematics to one of his experiments, and the end result was an explosion that scarred Victor for life. Expelled from school, Victor began to travel the world, eventually stumbling upon a village of Tibetan monks who trained him and crafted him a suit of body armor, complete with face plate. He soon returned to Latveria, overthrew the government and crowned himself King. Ruling with an iron fist, Doom began to turn the resources of his small nation to his plans of world domination.
While in his armor, Dr. Doom can lift (press) approximately 2 tons. He is one of the smartest men in the world and has an almost endless variety of weapons and equipment at his disposal. At the very least, Doom's armor contains a force field and concussion beams -- though more weapons may also be included. Dr. Doom also has the ability to switch minds with another person and he possesses a small amount of mystical knowledge as well.
When the Muir Island New Mutants prevented Terrax from destroying the Latverian Embassy, Dr. Doom invited them inside for dinner. He entertained them only for a short while, before the Avengers arrived and advised the New Mutants to leave.

CAPTAIN AMERICA Real Name: Steve Rogers Affiliation: The Avengers Powers: Pinnacle of Human Perfection
Steve Rogers was born during the Depression and grew up a frail youth in a poor family. His father died when he was a child, his mother when he was in his late teens. Horrified by newsreel footage of the Nazis in Europe, Rogers was inspired to try to enlist in the Army. However, because of his frailty and sickness, he was rejected. Overhearing the boy's earnest plea to be accepted, General Chester Phillips of the U.S. Army offered Rogers the opportunity to take part in a special experiment called Operation: Rebirth. Rogers agreed and was taken to a secret laboratory in Washington, D.C. where he was introduced to Dr. Abrahan Erskine (code named: Prof. Reinstein), the creator to the Super-Soldier formula.
After weeks of tests, Rogers was at last administered the Super-Soldier serum. Given part of the compound intravenously and another part orally, Rogers was then bombarded by "vita-rays," a special combination of exotic (in 1941) wavelengths of radiation designed to accelerate and stabilize the serum's effect on his body. Steve Rogers emerged from the vita-ray chamber with a body as perfect as a body can be and still be human. A Nazi spy who observed the experiment murdered Dr. Erskine mere minutes after its conclusion. Erskine died without fully committing the Super-Soldier formula to paper, leaving Steve Rogers the Sole beneficiary of his genius.
Roger was then put through an intensive physical and tactical training program, teaching him gymnastics, hand-to-hand combat and military strategy. Three months later, he was given his first assignment, to stop the Nazi agent called the Red Skull. To help him become a symbolic counterpart to the Red Skull, Rogers was given the red, white, and blue costume of Captain America.
During the war, he served as both a symbol of freedom and America's most effective special operative. Then, during the final days of the war, he was trying to stop a bomb-loaded drone-plane launched by Nazi technician Baron Heinrich Zemo when the plane exploded, killing his partner Bucky; and throwing him unhurt into icy Arctic waters. The Super-Soldier formula prevented crystallization of Captain America's bodily fluid, allowing him to enter a state of suspended animation. Decades later, he was rescued by the newly-formed Avengers and became a cornerstone of the team. His might undiminished. Captain America remains a symbol of liberty and justice.
After the Muir Island New Mutants battled Terrax through New York, Captain America, She-Hulk, and Quasar met them at the Latverian Embassy. Warning them not to trust Doctor Doom, they also covered for the New Mutants, so they could elude the Anti-Mutant authorities.
STRENGTH LEVEL: Captain America represents the pinnacle of human physical perfection. While not superhuman, he is as strong as a human being can be. He can lift (press) a maximum of 800 pounds with supreme effort.
KNOWN SUPERHUMAN POWERS: Captain America has agility, strength, speed, endurance, and reaction time superior to any Olympic athlete who ever competed. The Super-Soldier formula that he has metabolized has enhanced all of his bodily functions to the peak of human efficiency. Notably, his body eliminates the excessive build-up of fatigue-producing poisons in his muscles, granting him phenomenal endurance.
Captain America has mastered the martial art of American-style boxing and judo, and has combined these disciplines with his own unique hand-to-hand style of combat. He engages in a daily regimen of rigorous exercise (including aerobics, weight lifting, gymnastics, and simulated combat) to keep himself in peek condition. Captain America is one of the finest human combatants Earth has ever known.
LIMITATIONS: Captain America is subject to all human vulnerabilities, although his immunity to diseases is extraordinary.
WEAPONS: Captain America's only weapon is his shield, a concave disk 2.5 feet in diameter, weighing 12 pounds. It is made of a unique Vibranium-Adimantium alloy that has never been duplicated. The Shield was cast by American metallurgist Dr. Myron MacLain, who was contracted by the U.S. government to create an impenetrable substance to use for tanks during World War II. During his experiments, MacLain combined Vibranium with an Adamantium-steel alloy he was working with and created the disc-shaped shield. MacLain was never able to duplicate the process due to his inability identify a still unknown factor that played a role in it. The shield was awarded to Captain America by the government several months after the beginning of his career.
The shield has great aerodynamic properties: it is able to slice through the air with minimal wind resistance and deflection of path. Its great overall resilience, combined with its natural concentric stiffness, enables it to rebound from objects with minimal loss of angular momentum. It is virtually indestructible: it is resistant to penetration, temperature extremes, and the entire electromagnetic spectrum of radiation. The only way it can be damaged in any way is by tampering with its molecular bonding.

SHE-HULK Real Name: Jennifer Walters Affiliation: The Avengers Powers: Super-human Strength and Durability
Jennifer Walters is the first cousin of Robert Bruce Banner, also known as the Incredible Hulk. Despite a five-year age difference, Walters and Banner became as close as brother and sister growing up. But the two saw less of each other as they pursued separate careers: Banner medicine; Walters law.
Some time after exposure to gamma radiation triggered Banner's first transformation into the Hulk, he visited Walters to re-establish contact with his childhood friend. Driving Banner to her Los Angeles home, Walters was shot and seriously wounded during an attempt on her life by Nicholas Trask, an enemy of one of her clients. His cousin rapidly losing blood, Banner improvised an emergency transfusion. But he fled as soon as it was evident Walters would survive -- for fear that in the excitement, he would turn into the Hulk.
The effect on Walters of receiving Banner's mutated blood first became clear when Trask's men infiltrated her hospital room, posing as doctors. Walters recognized them, and anger triggered her transformation into a superhumanly strong female version of the Hulk. As She-Hulk, Walters exacted vengeance on Trask's organization. Later in her superhero career, she joined the Fantastic Four during the Thing's leave of absence. She-Hulk now serves as a member of the mighty Avengers.
She-Hulk possesses superhuman strength and can press at least 75 tons. She continues training to lift even greater weights, and the uppermost limit of her potential remains unknown. Unlike the Hulk, She-Hulk cannot assume her human form due to further gamma-ray exposure, but retains her normal intelligence and personality. By and large, She-Hulk is impervious to injury, pain and disease: Her skin is capable of withstanding extremes of temperature, as well as tremendous stresses and impacts without puncture wounds or lacerations. And She-Hulk's highly efficient physiology renders her immune to all terrestrial diseases.
After the Muir Island New Mutants battled Terrax through New York, Captain America, She-Hulk, and Quasar met them at the Latverian Embassy. Warning them not to trust Doctor Doom, they also covered for the New Mutants, so they could elude the Anti-Mutant authorities.

QUASAR Real Name: Wendell Vaughn Affiliation: The Avengers Powers: Quantum Energy Control
Once a lowly agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., Wendell Vaughn's life changed when he donned a pair of Quantum Bands to protect the devices from falling into the clutches of A.I.M. agents. He found that once he put the devices on he could control the energies the wristbands tapped into better then any of the other S.H.I.E.L.D. agents that had previously tried it. Nick Fury then recruited Wendell for S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s Super-Agent program. During a trip into space to learn the origins of the Quantum bands, Quasar was contacted by Eon, the guardian of Cosmic Awareness. He appointed Quasar the Protector of the Universe (inheriting the title from the now deceased Mar-Vell (Captain Marvel) and charged him with the task of preventing his murder. Quasar failed to save Eon, but stopped his killer, Maelstrom from collapsing the universe into a giant black hole.
Quasar had long been an admirer of the Avengers and was honored when Captain America asked him to join the team. However he found that his duties as Protector of the Universe prevented him from giving the team his all.
Quasar's powers are derived from the pair of Quantum Bands fused to his wrists (or more specifically, from the seven gems on each of the bands). Quasar's quantum-bands are permanently affixed to his wrists. He can make light bend around them so they appear to be invisible, though they are still tangible. They are linked to their wearer's nervous system and grant tremendous powers of energy manipulation. The Quantum Bands are composed of unknown materials and were originally created by Eon to be worn by his designated Protector of the Universe. They were discovered by the Uranian Eternals in a weapons depot left by the alien Kree and brought to Earth by the deluded Crusader that believed himself to be the 1950s Marvel Boy.
Foremost among these powers is the ability to tap into a limitless source of potential energy called the Quantum Zone. Quasar can project quantum energy in the form of devastating beams of force or heat, but more commonly employs them to fashion incredibly durable constructs of solid energy in any shape he can visualize, such as containment spheres, pincers or most commonly as a personal force field. Once they are formed he no longer has to concentrate on them to keep them intact.
The Quantum Bands can also exert control over many other types of energy that are part of the electromagnetic spectrum. He can siphon energy from virtually any power source. For example, Quasar once tapped into a sun and caused it to emit an enormous solar flare. He can also absorb and redirect the cosmic energy wielded by other powerful beings, siphoning their power and using it to augment his quantum energy. Forms of energy the Quantum Bands cannot control include magic and the Darkforce.
After the Muir Island New Mutants battled Terrax through New York, Captain America, She-Hulk, and Quasar met them at the Latverian Embassy. Warning them not to trust Doctor Doom, they also covered for the New Mutants, so they could elude the Anti-Mutant authorities.

SEBASTIAN SHAW Occupation: Chief executive officer and principal shareholder in Shaw Industries, Inc. Affiliation: Secretly the Black King of the Hellfire Club's Inner Circle Powers: Kinetic Energy Absorption
Sebastian Shaw was born into an impoverished family, but with his superb business skills, he became a millionaire by the age of 20. He eventually became the head of Shaw Industries, a multinational corporation which is heavily involved with United States defense contracts and the productions of munitions. Shaw was invited to join the Hellfire Club, the leading organization for the elite of society. Soon after joining, Shaw learned of the Club's secret Council of the Chosen, a group of members who, unknown to the others, conspired to achieve world domination through economic and political means. Through the force of his personality, Shaw became one of the leaders of the Council, rising to the rank of Black Bishop. (Members of the Inner Circle are given titles corresponding to the names of chess pieces.) The leader of the Council, a White king, had the Council give considerable financial backing to Dr. Steven Lang's attempt to create new mutant-hunting Sentinels. Upon the collapse of Lang's enterprise, Shaw seized the opportunity to turn the White King out of office. Shaw then became Black King, leader of the Council of the Chosen (which he renamed the Inner Circle) and master of the Hellfire Club. As leader of the Inner Circle, Shaw works closely with another leading member of the Circle, Emma Frost, its White Queen, who like Shaw is a superhumanly powerful mutant. Shaw survived an attempted challenge to his leadership of the Circle by its renegade White Bishop, Donald Pierce. Shaw is also cooperating with the United States government's covert Project: Wideawake, which is an attempt to deal with what is perceived as the possible menace presented by mutants. Shaw Industries was secretly manufacturing Sentinels for use by the Project. The government remains unaware of Shaw's criminal activities and of the fact that he himself is a superhumanly powerful mutant.
Without having absorbed additional energy, Sebastian Shaw possesses the normal strength of a man of his age, height, and build who engages in intensive regular exercise. However, Shaw can gain superhuman levels of strength by absorbing kinetic energy, and usually takes care to absorb enough in order to keep his strength at a superhuman level throughout his waking hours: for example, upon waking he will punch walls repeatedly in order to build up his reserves of absorbed energy. There is a limit to the amount of physical strength he can achieve, but it as yet remains unknown.
Sebastian Shaw is a mutant with the superhuman ability to absorb kinetic energy and to use it in an unknown manner to enhance his own physical strength, speed, and stamina. Shaw must be in contact with the energy in order to absorb it. If Shaw strikes a blow to someone or something, or is himself struck, he will absorb the energy of that blow. He has also been observed to be able to absorb electrical energy directed at him. Shaw's power to absorb and convert kinetic energy him invulnerable to various forms of attack. It is not known how long Shaw can retain the energy he absorbs. There is an upper limit to the amount of energy that Shaw can absorb and convert: once he was "overloaded" by an electrical energy discharged from the X-Man named Storm, and fell into a temporary coma. However, the exact extent of this limit remains unknown.
The Muir Island New Mutants met Shaw in Hong Kong at the Yang Corporation Gala.

NORMAN OSBORN Occupation: owner and president of Osborn Industries Affiliation: Secretly supervillain known as the Green Goblin Powers: super-human strength, a heightened intellect and a regenerative healing factor
Norman Osborn was the ruthless co owner of a leading New York chemical manufacturing firm, which also had research divisions that dealt in other areas including robotics. Osborn was obsessed with gaining increasing amounts of wealth and power, even by unethical means. When he discovered that his partner, Prof. Mendel Stromm, had taken a sum of money from the company for his personal use. Osborn seized the opportunity: although he knew that Stromm intended to pay beck the money, he had Stromm arrested and jailed for theft.
With Stromm gone, Osborn began going through the notes of Stromm's private research, Osborn thus stumbled upon a formula that Stromm was developing with the intention of using it to increase a person's intelligence and physical strength. That night Osborn tried to re-create the chemical from Stromm's notes. He watched as the solution turned green, and then exploded. Osborn was hospitalized for weeks as surgeons labored round the clock to save his life. They did so, and Osborn was finally released. Only he knew that the chemical had indeed increased his intelligence dramatically, but what Osborn did not realize was that it had also driven him insane. He decided to become a costumed criminal, and to use his increased intelligence to build upon his company's scientific devices and chemical discoveries and turn them into weapons. He designed a costume for which he colored green, after the solution, and named himself the Green Goblin.
The Muir Island New Mutants saw Osborn in Hong Kong at the Yang Corporation Gala, when he lifted his glass to Emma Frost. Frost warned the new mutants to steer clear of him.

A.I.M. (ADVANCED IDEA MECHANICS)
AIM (Advanced Idea Mechanics) is an organization of brilliant scientists and their hirelings dedicated to the acquisition of power and the overthrow of all governments by technological means.
AIM began as a group of scientists organized during World War II by Baron Wolfgang von Strucker to develop advanced technologicalweaponry for his secret subversive organization HYDRA. Altough HYDRA suffered a major defeat during the war, it continued to exist secretly over the following decades, growing and building its strength. The group of scientists grew number over the years, and made great advances in various fields, including robotics, bioengineering, bionics, and physics. Eventually the scientists publicly incorporated their organization under the name of Advance Idea Mechanics (AIM). No one outside AIM or HYDRA knew of AIM's subversive goals and activities, nor of their scientific achievements, nor the fact that AIM was actually the scientific research division of HYDRA. (Indeed, HYDRA's very existance remained unknown for most of this time.) Instead, AIM was beleived by both the public and by intelligence organizations to be an international cartel dealing with the development and marketing of new technological products. AIM gained great influence with the U.S. government in its role as a supplier of hardware and weapon to governmental and quasi-governmental agencies.
After the initial defeat of HYDRA by SHIELD, AIM, whose connection with HYDRA had not been exposed, attempted to discredit SHIELD Director Nicholas Fury, and thereby force him out of his position. This attempt, publicly led by Count Bomag Royale, failed, and instead Fury exposed AIM as a subversive organization. Although SHIELD believed it had put an end to AIM's operation, much of the organization escaped capture, and its links with the still secretly active HYDRA remained undiscovered. However, immediately upon the demise of Baron Strucker and the deaths of most of HYDRA's leading members in the destruction of HYDRA Island, AIM, now under the leadership of Modok, severed its ties with HYDRA, and has remained an independent organization ever since.
When the Muir Island New Mutants infiltrated the Hong Kong headquarters of Yang Corportation, they discovered that A.I.M. had secretly infiltrated the organization. They had rebuilt the Prometheus Pit and were researching the Microverse, among other things.

TIME TRAVELLER Real Name: Extrademinsional manifestation of semi-sentient energy force Affiliation: Manifestation/Emissary of the Enigma Force Powers: Enigma Force Control
Time Travelers typically appear as glowing green ethereal figures that strongly resemble Commander Rann. They are almost as mysterious as the force they serve. They observe, but they do not interfere. They hold great power, but they give it to others to use. The Shadow Priests claimed that they were only shadows next to the light of the Enigma Force.
Obviously, the Time Travelers can move forward and backward in time. They see possible futures, and when they detect a threat to the Microverse, they take steps to counter that threat. In their Temple of Time, they sift through clues and formulate strategies. They are not omniscient; often, their plans do not bear fruit until the last minute, when the fate of the universe may hang in the balance.
They are limited by the abilities of their agents. In Rann's case, when he lost the ability to tap into his subconscious, the Time Travelers had no way to communicate with him, much less manifest their power in him.
When the Muir Island New Mutants entered the Microverse, they were approached by a being claiming to be the last of the Time Travelers. He beseeched them to find the last Shadow Priest so that they could save their universe as well as the Microverse.
