A shadowy creature rose up out of Silent Knight's unconscious body and attacked the New Mutants ISSUE 4 October 1989
The New Mutants participate in their first Danger Room session. Skew's powers go haywire, but the New Mutants stop him before he destroys the entire facility. Moira gives each mutant another bio-exam and learns more about how their powers work. Sunfire arrives from Japan with Emperor Arihito's niece, Princess Taiyo. It is decided that Muir Island is the safest place for Princess Taiyo to be in light of recent Reaver attacks. Two warpies, Blip and Sparkler, steal Angus MacWhirter's rowboat. Joule and Silent Knight go to bring them back, but instead take them around the island.
Banshee and Forge take the New Mutants on a mission to the ruins of Xavier Mansion. While the Banshee and Forge go below to secure the under-levels, the New Mutants are given the assignment to play soccer with their powers. Fractal uses his nullification powers, causing Silent Knight to collapse. A shadowy being coils up out of her body as she lay upon the ground.

The Shi'ar Imperial Guard standing over the wreckage of Xavier's Institute ISSUE 5
While she is unconscious, Silent Knight has a flashback of her home being destroyed by the shadow entity. Bullet is struck down by the shadow entity and is put into a psychic coma. The New Mutants drive away the shadow creature and take Bullet to the mansion sub-basement where Forge and Banshee hook Bullet up to the automated biobeds there. Jubilee and Joule find the X-Men's old uniforms and begin trying them on. Joule dressed up as Marvel Girl and Jubilee as "punk" Storm. Fractal goes through the X-Men records and reads up on Magneto, the Brotherhood, and the Savage Land. Silent Knight explores the Shi'ar Power Tap, while Blindside checks out the gymnasium.
Back on the surface, a young alien girl flees from a teleportal and begs the New Mutants for asylum. She is pursued by Thermo and his soldiers. A fight breaks out until the New Mutants realize that the alien girl is running away from her father, because she doesn't want to go to school on Sarium 5. Joule convinces Thermo that she is Jean Grey. Thermo overreacts and calls in the Shi'ar Imperial Guard, thinking that the Phoenix has returned. Gladiator recognizes that Joule is not Jean Grey and Thermo gets chastised. Fractal gives Gladiator his application to join the Imperial Guard; Gladiator tells him he's too young. Joule invites May'lani, the alien girl, to come live on Muir Island, much to the displeasure of her father.
The New Mutants race Bullet back to Muir Island so that he can be cared for by Dr. MacTaggert. Once they arrive, they learn that Moira has recruited an entire teaching staff to see to their education. They meet the new faculty and begin taking classes.
Wolverine takes over their training and begins giving them lessons in unarmed combat. Blindside requests extra training and Wolverine tells him to meet him in the gym at 6am every morning.
The New Mutants learn that they are going to have a field trip to the British Museum in London in two weeks.

The ancient Egyptian tablet found in the back rooms of the British Museum contained the likeness of the Fantastic Four ISSUE 6
Bullet awakes from his psychic coma and the other New Mutants welcome him back. The New Mutants meet Amanda Sefton, sorceress and Nightcrawler's former lover.
Skew is given detention, but cuts his way out of the classroom when the teacher is not looking. Principal Skylar complains to Dr. MacTaggert. Silent Knight trips him with her darkforce powers and all of the New Mutants laugh at his expense. The New Mutants find Skew in the sea cave and talk him into coming back after a bonding session.
The students teleport a "welcome package" into Princess Taiyo's room, with a walkie-talkie in it, hoping to make contact with her.
Later, the students and some faculty are teleported to London for a field trip to the British Museum. Fractal senses a stone tablet that radiates cosmic energy similar to his own. The New Mutants sneak into the back rooms of the Museum to investigate and are transported to a pocket dimension reminiscent of Ancient Egypt. They are brought before Rama the Second, who claims to be the son of Rama-Tut. He tells them they have been brought there to repair the Divine Machines that sustain his realm.
The New Mutants discover that the Divine Machines are powered by a cosmic cube shard. Fractal repairs it, but in doing so, inadvertently causes the cube to become self-aware. It imprints upon Fractal, and names itself Mandala.
Mandala destroys Rama the Second to end his evil rule and then transports the students back to the British Museum.

Lady Deathstrike and the Reavers attack Wolverine and the New Mutants at the Mosque of Ibn Tulun in Cairo, Egypt. ISSUE 7 November 1989
A mutant named Qunbula begins rampaging across Cairo. In response, mobs of Egyptians begin combing the streets for mutants. To make matters worse, Daniel Pierce and his Reavers show up to assist with the mutant purge.
In the midst of this unrest, Cerebro detects Storm in Cairo. Wolverine proposes that he take the Muir Island New Mutants with him to find Storm, while the other X-Men try to stop the violence in the city. They argue, but eventually Dr. MacTaggert relents. Amanda Sefton teleports the New Mutants to Cairo's Islamic Quarter.
The New Mutants begin searching for Storm, but are sidetracked helping people along the way. They rescue a family from a mob who mistakenly thinks they are harboring a mutant.
Next, they discover a mutant being stoned to death in front of the Mosque of Ibn Tulun. When the mob drags the mutant into the mosque, the New Mutants follow. Working together, the mutants are able to rescue the girl, while making it seem like she disappeared because of her own powers.
But just as they turn to leave the mosque, they are confronted by Lady Deathstrike and a group of Reavers. (Battalion, Bravo, Fade, Killshot, and Seeker). Lady Deathstrike calls out Wolverine and the two begin to fight, while the Reavers attack the New Mutants. Fractal is knocked out, when Killshot collapses the Temple of Ibn Tulun down on top of him. But the remaining New Mutants defeat the Reavers, then assist Wolverine in overcoming Lady Deathstrike. Joule uses her powers to toss Lady Deathstrike across the city and out of the fight.
The players are thanked by Shatter, the mutant they rescued and they escort her home. At Shatter's home, her father tells the players that the girl they are looking for is a thief who works for Hisham Moustafa, a black marketeer in the Grand Bazaar.
Wolverine and the New Mutants approach Moustafa's house to find it surrounded by an angry mob. Silent Knight teleports them inside. The Battle Brothers come to Hisham's rescue, but they are easily held at bay by Silent Knight's force fields. Wolverine intimidates Hisham into telling them where to find Storm. Hisham says that an American woman with green eyes took her from him, and that this woman wanted Ororo to steal something from the Cult of Apocalypse.

The Mystical Library of Thoth, Egyptian god of knowledge ISSUE 8
Wolverine and the Muir Island New Mutants finish their interrogation of Hisham Moustafa. Silent Knight teleports Moustafa, his wives and the Battle Brothers to Port Said so he can escape the angry mobs.
Then Silent Knight teleports Wolverine and the New Mutants to the entrance to the Cult of Apocalypse, located in the "Garbage City" slum district of Cairo. Joule knocks on the door and it is answered by Caliban. Formerly a member of the Morlocks, Caliban tells the heroes that he now awaits the coming of "the Master." Wolverine asks where they can find Storm. Caliban says that she has been there and since left. But says that Ozymandias may know where she has gone and leads the players to him.
Caliban leads them through cramped corridors of a decrepit building and into an archway that leads down into a colossal sunken pyramid. In a massive chamber inside the pyramid, a crowd of mutants have gathered before Ozymandias. On four raised platforms, other mutants fight each other brutally, each trying to prove that they are the strongest. As the New Mutants approach Ozymandias, a nearby combatant named Jade kills her opponent in a quite gory fashion. Ozymandias notes with interest the fact that neither Blindside nor Bullet seemed to be emotionally upset by this.
Wolverine asks where they can find Storm. Ozymandias replies that only the strongest, the fittest are rewarded. He demands that the New Mutants prove their worthiness. When Wolverine refuses, Ozymandias opens the floor under him, causing Logan to disappear in the pit below. Then Ozymandias turns to the New Mutants and asks them again if they wish to fight. Joule replies, "we'd better hurry this up, cause when Wolverine gets back he's gonna be pissed."
Ozymandias' Horsemen appear and challenge the New Mutants. Bullet immediately shoots Famine and the combat begins.
Silent Knight squares off with Death; Bullet and Jubilee face Famine, Joule confronts War; Fractal takes on Pestilence, while Blindside zooms around the room, assisting everyone.
Fractal and Blindside are attacked by Pestilence's insect swarm, but Fractal immediately takes her out of the fight, by pulling her fractal signature into him and stealing her powers.
Jubilee is taken out by Famine. Bullet shoots out one of Famine's eyes and then puts him to sleep telepathically.
Silent Knight teleports Death into orbit, but Death immediately teleports back. Their fight ends when Silent Knight grabs Death's hammer in mid-blow and then forces him down onto his knees. Noting Death's unworthiness, Ozymandias strips Death of his power, causing his armor to fall off of him.
Blindside and Joule trip up and toss around War, but are unable to truly hurt him. Finally, Joule steals War's kinetic energy and then sends it recoiling back at him, which launches War through the ceiling and out of the fight.
Ozymandias is greatly pleased and offers to make the New Mutants his Horsemen, but they refuse. Wolverine returns dramatically and decapitates Ozymandias. Ozymandias' severed head is still able to talk, explaining that he is immortal. Ozymandia tells the heroes that Storm snuck into the pyramid and stole an ancient ankh. This ankh was purported to have come from the ancient Temple of Thoth at Hermopolis Magna. He suggests that Storm could be found there.
Blindside drops Ozymandias' head down a hole in the floor. Wolverine tells the remaining mutants here to leave. He threatens them, saying that if he finds them here when he comes back, he won't be happy.
Silent Knight teleports Wolverine and the Muir Island New Mutants to the ruins at Hermopolis Magna, where they find a group of tourists gawking at a ghostly temple superimposed over the ruins. The New Mutants move to a small building that seems to be the nexus of the strange phenomenon. Entering the building, they find themselves in an ancient temple to Thoth, where two guardian statues of Anubis are being attacked by horrific demon dogs. The guardian statues continue to regenerate, but the demon dogs tear them apart again as fast as they reassemble.
Blindside zips across the room to a doorway leading to a starscape. Looking through he sees a small pier on the otherside of the doorway. Floating above in the starscape, is a radiant pyramid with a golden barge tethered to it, as if someone had just journeyed from this doorway to the pyramid above.

Madelyne Pryor, the Goblyn Queen and Sorcerer Supreme of Limbo ISSUE 9
Wolverine and the Muir Island New Mutants follow the trail of Storm into the mystical library of the Egyptian god Thoth. Blindside scouts ahead and finds the custodian of the library, a golden statue of Thoth. He asks the custodian if his parents are alive. The statue responds by directing him to a magazine rack. There, Blindside finds a Forbes Magazine featuring his father's company. On the cover is a photo of Blindside, without a facial scar, beside his parents.
Meanwhile, Wolverine and the Muir Island New Mutants are attacked by the Hellions. Silent Knight teleports Bullet to the center of the library, where he discovers the Goblyn Queen and Tarot stealing an ancient stone tablet. Storm is with them, but she has been de-aged to a teenager.
The Goblyn Queen and Tarot flee through a dimensional portal into Limbo with the tablet. After mostly defeating the Hellions, the New Mutants teleport to Bullet, where Storm confronts them. She withdraws into Limbo, but Bullet psionically puts her to sleep.
Wolverine and the New Mutants leap through the portal into Limbo and are confronted by S'ym. S'ym tosses Wolverine and Jubilee around, but with a kinetically charged punch, Joule sends S'ym flying over a nearby mountain range.
The heroes then jump through another portal and appear on the National Mall in Washington D.C. Tarot and the Goblyn Queen are performing a magical ritual with the tablet and the Washington Monument as their focal point. The tablet has been fractured into the twenty two cards of the Tarot's Major Arcana. Silent Knight attempts to grab the High Priestess card, but is nearly possessed by it. Blindside shatters the central tablet, which disrupts the ritual and sends fragments of the tablet shooting across the horizon down activated ley lines.
The Goblyn Queen is enraged. She creates a mind-blast, which incapacitates Wolverine, Blindside, Joule, and Silent Knight. Then she disappears with Tarot through a portal to Limbo.
Once recovered, Wolverine leads the new mutants into the sewers, then into the Metro tunnels and into the suburbs surrounding the city. He breaks into an empty house and tells the kids to take it easy until the Blackbird arrives.
A few hours later, Banshee and Forge arrive with the Blackbird. They pick up Wolverine and the New mutants and head towards the Massachusetts Academy. Wolverine wants to get answers from Emma Frost, since her Hellions were working for the Goblyn Queen. Forge constructs some headbands to protect everyone from Emma Frost's telepathy.
But when the new mutants put them on something happens. They realize that everything they've remembered up to this point has been a fictitious psionic persona so that they can infiltrate Muir Island. With their persona's deactivated, they realize that they are members of the Hellions and their final orders are to capture Wolverine, Banshee and Forge.
After a brief fight, the new mutants incapacitate the X-Men. Then they land the Blackbird on the Massachusett's Academy lawn. Emma Frost and her other students come out to meet them. Frost greets the new mutants by saying, "Welcome home, my Hellions."

Terrax the Terrible, former herald of Galactus ISSUE 10Emma Frost detects the Muir Island X-Men and New Mutants as they approach her Massachusetts Academy. She telepathically controls Forge and has him construct psionic enhancers, instead of psionic shields for everyone, and when the New Mutants place them on their heads, she telpathically traps them in a psionic dream, which makes them believe they are her Hellions. She begins to interrogate them about Muir Island, but Blindside begins to suspect something is wrong. Fractal uses his powers to break free of the psionic dream and finds that the blackbird has landed at the Massachusetts Academy and everyone is sitting in their seats as if in a trance. Fractal rips the psionic enhancer off of Blindside's head; then Blindside uses his super-speed to rip them off of everyone else.
Emma Frost boards the blackbird with Apex and Radius (two new Hellion recruits) who are carrying her luggage. Joule realizes that the Goblyn Queen has "stolen" Emma Frost's Hellions. Frost admits that this is true and that she's joining forces with the X-Men to track them down. The blackbird takes off, heading back to Muir Island.
During the flight, Emma keeps the de-aged Storm asleep until she can be examined.
Hours later, the blackbird arrives on Muir Island and is met by Dr. MacTaggert and Jamie Madrox. The X-Men take Emma Frost into Moira's study to discuss the wisdom of Emma Frost joining them. Meanwhile, Bullet and Joule decide to sneak into the Command Center to read all the files on Emma Frost. Simultaneously, Fractal and Silent Knight convince Changeling to distract one of the Jame duplicates who is watching over Storm in the med-lab, while they sneak in to try to heal her. Fractal examines Storm and discovers a sliver of shadow among her fractal pattern. He brings it to the surface, unleashing some sort of massive shadow creature from Storm's body, which immediately knocks out Fractal, Silent Knight, Changeling and the duplicate. Every telepath on the island feels a psychic jolt. Everyone races down to the med-lab. Dr. MacTaggert chastises the New Mutants for interfering, but thanks them for trying to help. She makes them promise to not interfere again and to let the experts handle Storm's recovery.
That evening, Amanda Sefton hosts a girls slumber party for Joule, Jubilee, Silent Knight and Changeling. Joule and Silent Knight sneak Princess Taiyo and her handmaidens into the party and they all watch Pretty Woman. Meanwhile, Jamie Madrox hosts a Dungeons and Dragons game for the boys in the cafeteria. Bullet, Fractal and Blindside end up playing with several of Jamie's duplicates.
Once everyone falls asleep, Joule's dreams are invaded by the Goblyn Queen. When the Goblyn Queen sees that Joule is upset, she psionically brings Blindside, Bullet, Jubilee, Fractal and Silent Knight into the dream as well. She tries to convince the New Mutants that they would be happier joining her in Limbo. But Emma Frost invades the dream and launches into a psychic duel with the Goblyn Queen. Something powerful breaks the psychic link between all of them before the combat can be resolved.
Everyone gathers in Moira's cottage to discuss the psychic attack and Emma Frost offers to begin to train the New Mutants in psychic defense. But the following morning, the New Mutants tell Banshee they are not comfortable with that. Blindside shows Moira the Forbes Magazine he got from the Library of Thoth and she promises to look into it. Emma Frost mentions that she has received an invitation to attend a gala hosted by Yang Corporation in Hong Kong in one week.
The next day, Amanda Sefton teleports Wolverine and the New Mutants to New York where they consult with Doctor Strange to find out information about the ritual the Goblyn Queen was attempting. They learn that the Goblyn Queen was trying to rebuild the ancient Tablet of the Destinies, which gives its bearer total control over reality. Ages ago, Thoth created the Tarot Deck out of this Tablet, but afterwards locked it away in his library. Now, that the New Mutants have interrupted the Goblyn Queen's ritual, pieces of this tablet have scattered across reality. Doctor Strange believes that the Goblyn Queen will search for them and try to reconstruct the tablet again. The X-Men and Strange agree that they should work together to stop her. Doctor Strange also determines that Fractal has the potential to learn sorcery and offers to teach him once they have time.
Afterwards, Wolverine asks Amanda Sefton to babysit the New Mutants while he takes care of some personal business. Amanda takes the kids to Washington Square Park, where they see a large section of the land has been cordoned off. A strange energy signature has been detected in the ground beneath this area, and a company named Genetech is using a drone to decontaminate the area. But as the New Mutants watch, the drone explodes! A storm of energy boils over the park and coalesces, forming the body of Terrax, former herald of Galactus. He lifts his hands to the heavens and shouts, "I AM ALIVE! TERRAX IS RETURNED!"

Doctor Doom invites the New Mutants to dine with him in the Latverian Embassy ISSUE 11 Terrax bursts from the ground and begins surfing across Washington Square Park on a pillar of earth. Rocks from the explosion strike Bullet and Jubilee, knocking them out. Amanda Sefton and the rest of the Muir Island New Mutants chase Terrax, saving citizens from the collateral damage he wreaks as he plows through the city. At first it appears that he's heading for Four Freedom's Plaza, but then it becomes evident that his destination is the Latverian Embassy.
Terrax splits a building in half and Silent Knight holds it together, while Amanda Sefton levitates survivors out of it and Blindside zooms through the wreckage, rescuing the rest. Fractal tries to steal Terrax's power, but he resists. Blindside smashes Terrax's earth pillar, sending him crashing down onto a cab. Joule strikes Terrax with a kinetically powered uppercut that sends him sailing over two blocks. Silent Knight clashes her Dark Force sword against Terrax's Cosmic Axe and with Joule's help, smashes him down into the subway tunnels. Terrax tears through the tunnels, heading straight for the Latverian Embassy. Blindside pushes his powers to the limit, knocking himself out, but striking such a blow against Terrax that it launches him out of the subway tunnels and sends him crashing down on the lawn of the Latverian Embassy. Joule pounces on Terrax and after a brutal exchange, pummels him into unconsciousness.
Soon, Joule and Amanda Sefton are surrounded by Doom's servo-robots. Then Doctor Doom emerges from the embassy demanding to know what is source of this affront to his personage? Joule quickly explains and Doom thanks her. He tells her that he is in her debt and invites her inside for dinner. Before Amanda can protest Joule joins Doom in a massive dinning hall. The servo-robots take away Terrax and his cosmic axe.
After a few pleasantries, Doom shows Joule video footage of the Muir Island New Mutants fighting the Goblyn Queen and Tarot atop the Washington Monument. He asks Joule about the ritual they stopped and she tells him everything she knows. Blindside, Fractal and Silent Knight join Joule and Amanda in the Latverian Embassy, until finally the Avengers arrive. Captain America, She-Hulk and Quasar step into the embassy through the impact hole that Terrax and Joule caused.
Doom insists that the New Mutants are in no danger and that they are guests. But Captain America insists that the New Mutants leave and they obey.
On the lawn of the embassy, Captain America warns the New Mutants about dealing with Doom. The new mutants apologize for the destruction to the city, but Captain America says that on the contrary, he saw them save many lives and he thanks them. He also tells them that the X-Men are not on good terms with the US authorities and agrees to cover for them while they make their getaway. Blindside retrieves Bullet and Jubilee, and Amanda Sefton teleports them back to Muir Island.
On Muir Island, the now teenaged Storm has woken up and is going wild. A thunderstorm rages around the research center. Counselor Halcourt and Dr. MacTaggert ask the new mutants to see if they can calm her down. Blindside and Joule primarily talk with Storm. Storm is angry because she's been taken to Muir Island against her will; the New Mutants warn her about the Goblyn Queen and say she's free to go whenever she chooses. Storm relents and decides to stay for now, mostly because she feels she has no where else to go.
At the new mutants request, Moira, Banshee and Forge take them to the Command Center and allow them to read all the files on the Goblyn Queen, Doctor Doom, Terrax, the Avengers, and anything else they request.
Two days later, the New Mutants hold a surprise birthday part for Silent Knight. Amanda Sefton teleports Silent Knight's friends back from Tulsa to Muir Island for the party.
Over the next few days most of the new mutants get detention as personality conflicts lead to fights. Apex and Skew constantly fight, prompting Silent Knight to beat them both up. Radius keeps making Changeling cry, for which Silent Knight beats up Radius. Jubilee also decks Radius. Apex turns Changeling into a love-sick puppy slave, for which Blindside and Fractal get in fights with him over. Over all, it is a week of detentions.
Storm accepts her place on Muir Island, but refuses to wear the X-Men costume. She shaves her head into a Mohawk and wears black leather in protest.
The New Mutants learn of the Fall of the Berlin Wall. They also see footage of themselves fighting Terrax in New York. Some are outraged by the devastation and others by the fact that mutant terrorists are now using children. Senator Kelly suggests that the X-Men may have allied themselves with Doctor Doom.
Also, during the week the new mutants are divided up into two teams. A-Team consists of Blindside, Bullet, Fractal, Joule, and Silent Knight. B-Team consists of Apex, Changeling, Jubilee, Radius, Skew, and Storm.
Jubilee is angry that she's taken off of A-Team, but Blindside makes her feel better by making the point that she's the best suited to lead B-Team.
NOVEMBER 16, 1989
A-Team is pulled out of history class by Emma Frost. When Professor Dugan begins to argue with Emma, she telepathically pulls out a whole semester's worth of History lessons out of Dugan's mind and shoots it into the minds of the students.
Emma tells them that she and Banshee are taking the A-Team on her Learjet to Hong Kong to look for Blindside's parents.
The issue ends with the new mutants rushing off to their rooms to pack.

Yang Corporation Headquarters in Hong Kong, China ISSUE 12
NOVEMBER 16, 1989
The Muir Island New Mutants pack for their trip to Hong Kong and meet beside Emma Frost's luxury Learjet. At first they are disappointed to be travelling on a "normal" jet, until they discover that Emma's jet has a fireplace, chandelier's, kitchens and bedrooms in it. Banshee and Emma Frost tell the New Mutants that they are going to Hong Kong to attend a gala that is to be held by the Yang Corporation, the business that Blindside's father runs. Their goal is to investigate the mysterious disappearance and reappearance of the Yang family.
An advertisement in a magazine for X-Factor Investigations prompts a discussion on where mutants fit into society. Emma tells the new mutants to never forget that humans will always hate mutants. Banshee disagrees with her, saying that he and Moira feel that Xavier's dream of humans and mutants coexisting peacefully can become a reality. The new mutants express their opinions.
On the long flight to Hong Kong, Emma Frost begins to give the new mutants psychic defense training. She is very impressed by Bullet's ability to keep her out of his mind.
Next, she works with Blindside. They enter his memories of a brutal fight in the Indian Fighting Pits, where David is forced to kill. For once, Emma drops her flippant attitude and tells Blindside that she respects his ability to maintain his peace of mind in the face of the horrors he's faced.
When she works with Fractal, he revisits his memories of manifesting his powers and unleashing a cosmic burst of energy, that he now regrets. He also remembers the events following and the danger that his family was put in by anti-mutant fear.
Working with Silent Knight, Emma and Tanya discover a dark part of her mind where a shadowy egg grows. To Tanya it looks like the same dark creature she saw inside Storm. Emma suggests that now is not the time to explore this further.
Finally, Emma works with Joule. They sit silently for a while until Emma cuts off their telepathic link suddenly. Fiona immediately says she's not feeling well and goes to lie down. Emma spends the remainder of the flight uncharacteristically silent.
Arriving in Hong Kong, Emma Frost telepathically deceives the customs officials to let them in the country without passports. Everyone boards a Rolls Royce limousine which takes them to a penthouse apartment in Central Hong Kong. This apartment has a clear view across the bay to the penthouse apartment of the Yang family.
Emma senses the minds of three maids in the Yang apartment. She clouds their minds so that they won't see any intruders. Fractal scans the apartment and discovers a hidden safe and a hidden closet in the master bedroom. Then Silent Knight teleports in and disables the security cameras. She then cracks the safe and retrieves a folder that shows that someone hired the Hand to kidnap the Yang family. When David escaped, the Yang Corporation continued to search for him and the folder details the full investigation.
In the master bedroom, Silent Knight discovers two stasis pods hidden behind a secret panel. In David's bedroom, there is an identical pod. But inside it, is a clone of David, minus his facial scar and without any brain activity.
Back in Emma's apartment, the New Mutants are fitted for tuxedos and luxurious dresses. After a meal from a private chef, Emma, Banshee and the New Mutants head to the Yang Corporation Gala.
The gala is packed with rich and influential guests. Emma is approached by Anthony Stark, CEO of Stark International. They have a brief flirtatious exchange, where Stark tells her that he often thinks about their night together at the Hellfire Club. Emma responds, "Of course you do, darling." and then leads the new mutants away.
Fractal detects the presence of two mutants and spots them on the balcony. Emma Frost identifies them as Sebastian Shaw and his assistant Tessa. She instructs the new mutants to say that they are her students at the Massachusetts Academy, should he ask.
Norman Osborn lifts a glass to Emma and she warns the students to steer clear of him.
Finally, the students recognize Dr. Jinghao Tan, the scientist whose operation they destroyed in the Tulsa bio-medical research center.
The presentation begins with a video feed from London where Mr. and Mrs. Yang greet the crowd. They take each others hands and walk through a teleportal in London. Moments later, a stargate-looking teleportal flashes in the gala and the couple walks on to the stage to great applause.
As Mr. Yang addresses the crowd, Blindside realizes that although it looks and sounds like his father, that the mannerisms and speech patterns are all wrong.
Mr. Yang then gives his final demonstration, where he transfers the mind of an elderly woman into a young, clone body. "Ladies and gentlemen, I give you immortality!" he exclaims.
After the presentation, Sebastian Shaw steps up to speak to Emma Frost. The new mutants decide this is a good time to investigate.
They teleport to Mr. Yang's office, where Blindside is able to hack into his father's computer. They learn that all of Yang Corps new innovations have been coming from the study of something they are calling “the artifact”. They also learn that Mr. and Mrs. Yang were kidnapped by operatives answering to someone the records designate as SCIENTIST PRIME. Their minds were exported from their bodies and sent into the artifact to a mind repository. Now Mrs. Yang's body is occupied by the minds of different operatives at different times, but YANG is always occupied by SCIENTIST PRIME.
The issue ends with Blindside pulling up an image of the artifact on the computer screen.
(Although the characters have no idea what they are looking at, several of the players recognize it as the HMS Endeavour: the spaceship belonging to the Micronauts)

The Muir Island New Mutants enter the Microverse aboard the HMS Endeavour ISSUE 13
Joule comes to her senses in the middle of the Yang Corporation gala. Sebastian Shaw is talking to Emma Frost, but is leering at Joule in her pink dress. Emma telepathically tells Joule that they uncovered something unpleasant during their psychic defense training session and explains that she mentally anesthetized her, because they didn't have time to deal with the discovery.
Joule thinks back and remembers their session. Guided by Emma, they push pass her psi-shield and uncover suppressed memories. First Joule remembers floating in some sort of green bacta tank and seeing someone with piercing red eyes looking in at her. Another memory is over her being released from the tank. The cold air is a shock to her as she spills upon a laboratory floor amid the sound of arguing voices. Lastly, she remembers arriving on Muir Island. She and another person enter Moira MacTaggert's cabin while she and Banshee are sleeping. Moira awakes and a voice says, "I have need of you."
Emma brings Joule back to the present, telling her that her fellow students have found something and probably need her help. Emma contacts the New Mutants telepathically. Silent Knight appears and teleports Joule to the others.
Joule and Silent Knight appear alongside the other New Mutants in Chao Yang's massive office. They quickly tell Joule everything they've learned and then decide to investigate the laboratory containing the "artifact."
Silent Knight teleports everyone to an office on the same floor as the lab. Fractal grabs a lab coat and puts it on. Silent Knight climbs up into the ceiling tiles. Blindside renders himself invisible. Joule and Bullet hide in the office.
Fractal uses reality warping to trick the guards into opening the doors to the lab. Inside, he finds the room filled with A.I.M. scientists. Some are studying the "artifact." Others are working on a "Prometheus Pit," that the players will later learn is a tunnel into the Microverse. There are hundreds of tubes around the perimeter of the room containing human bodies in different stages of development.
Fractal tries to act like he's "acquired" a new body, while Joule and Bullet try to act like tipsy gala guests. Blindside zips into the room invisible, while Silent Knight begins to cut her way in through the metal walls.
The scientists panic once Bullet causes two of them to fall asleep and hit the alarm. Three exoskelatal mech-suits and two giant robot suits activate. The Scientist Prime jumps back into his armored body in the lab.
The New Mutants attack, mopping up everyone in just a matter of minutes. The Scientist Prime proved the toughest of the opponents. Silent Knight "decapitates" his mind from his body with her darkforce sword, causing him irreparable brain damage.
Bullet reaches out to the "artifact" with his mind, inadvertently triggering telepathic circuits. The New Mutants are "beamed" into the HMS Endeavour, which immediately initiates a microjump. Before they know what's happening, the New Mutants are shrinking into the Microverse on an alien spacecraft.
Once the HMS Endeavour arrives in the Microverse, it finds itself immediately under attack from smaller spacecraft. Silent Knight teleports aboard one of the ships and causes it to kamikaze into a second one. Blindside takes control of the helm and pilots the Endeavour. Bullet destroys a third ship from one of the turrets. Fractal seals up a hull breach. Silent Knight destroys the fourth ship and teleports back onto the Endeavour.
Immediately, after the battle ends, the New Mutants are visited by a glowing entity calling himself Time Traveler. He tells them that in order to save their universe and the Microverse, they must locate the last Shadow Priest! He directs them to a service closet and tells them that there they will find their guide. Then he fades away.
Opening the service closet, they find a badly damaged and powered-down Microtron robot.

The home planet of the Micronauts and Baron Karza. One of the planets of the Microverse. ISSUE 14
Aboard the HMS Endeavour, Silent Knight fiddles with Microtron's circuits and is able to activate him, although the roboid is clearly still damaged. He warns the New Mutants that both the Microverse and the Macroverse are in danger of being destroyed.
Microtron explains that after the Micronauts defeated Baron Karza, the Microverse enjoyed a golden age. Karza's Body Banks were opened to everyone, who now enjoyed eternal life and body modification as they wished. But after a time, it all ended, when the Sub-Atomicans invaded Homeworld, led by Prince Revka, also known as the Psycho-Man.
The New Mutants learn that Psycho-Man has harnessed the power of the Uni-Power that binds the Microverse together and is using that to create "Prometheus tunnels" from the Microverse and to the Yang Corporation Teleportal Network. Once the portals are opened, armies of soldiers from the Body Banks will pour through them to invade Earth.
However, Microtron tells them that unknown to Psycho-Man, his draining of the Uni-Power is weakening the Space Wall that both creates the structure for the Microverse, but also imprisons the Whirldemons that were captured by the legendary Prince Wayfarer ages ago. The Whirldemons are entities of unimaginable power who feed off of the life energy of both beings and planets. Should these demons be released, they would destroy all of the worlds in the Microverse and the Macroverse.
Microtron implores the New Mutants to become the new Micronauts and to find the last Shadow Priest, who will know what to do.
After some discussion, the New Mutants decide to pose as space pirates who have discovered the HMS Endeavour and Microtron. They fly towards Homeworld, planning to turn them both in for the bounty. Joule dresses up in a Corsair/Starjammer outfit, while Bullet merely wears an eye patch. Blindside dresses in a Raza/Starjammer outfit. And Silent Knight wears her typical "bad-ass" shadow armor.
They reach Homeworld and convince an Orbital Sentry Station that they are pirates from the Hydraxi Strand, seeking the bounty for the HMS Endeavour and the Microtron unit. They are directed to land in the Orbital Sentry station where they are met by Officer Arellex Rav and a contingent of soldiers. They are escorted to a waiting area, while science ministers check the authenticity of the Endeavour.
Finally, they are met by Lord Doolian Vex, who questions them further. When satisfied, he awards them with 1 million body bank credits, plus an additional 50,000 because Joule mentioned Microtron asking about a "shadow priest" and offers them a job in his service. The New Mutants decline, but ask for passage down to the Body Banks to cash in their credits. Lord Vex agrees and the New Mutants leave Microtron with him.
They are escorted to a transport vessel. Silent Knight goes to the rest room and teleports back into the chamber where they left Lord Vex and Microtron. There, he sees Lord Vex speaking to Psycho-Man on a viewscreen, telling him "My lord, they claim the roboid was asking about the last Shadow Priest." After listening a bit further, Silent Knight teleports Microtron out of the room, along with miscellaneous other items as a distraction. He hides the roboid on the far side of the rocky surface of the Orbital Sentry Station and then teleports back into the transport vessel.
The New Mutants are given an epidermal graft which will grant them entry into the Royal City and are also given their credits.
They depart the transport and explore the Royal City, looking a bit out of place among the nobles. They resist the locals attempts to entice them into spending their credits and make their way to the Body Banks.
There, they pose as potential customers and review all of the Body Bank packages available. At the end of the presentation, Joule asks about a Shadow Priest package. Unknown to the New Mutants this triggers a warning flag. The customer service roboid tells them that the Shadow Priest model is in a different part of the Body Banks. It leads them deep into the Body Banks and straight to the Psycho-Man, who demands to know why they are seeking the last Shadow Priest.
After some conversation, the issue ends with the Psych--Man reaching for his Emotion Control Box.

Baron Karza surveys the Sword Star; with his Dyson Sphere, he siphons off the Uni-Power of the Enigma Force ISSUE 15
In the Body Banks on Homeworld, Psycho-Man attacks the New Mutants. Bullet shoots his Emotion Control Box out of his hands, so Psycho-Man releases combat roboids from the Body Banks to assist him. Joule blasts Psycho-man and his minions back with her repulsion field. Fractal tries to steal Psycho-Man's powers, but can't. Blindside creates a whirlwind that sends Psycho-Man's minions flying all over the place. Psycho-Man regains control of his emotion control box and bombards the New Mutants with his psycho-rays, causing them to attack each other.
Joule almost takes out all of the other New Mutants, but they quickly recover and continue to fight. Silent Knight teleports behind Joule and attempts to impale her with her Dark Force blade, but Joule's backlash field causes the attack to ricochet back onto Silent Knight.
Psycho-Man cycles the New Mutants between the emotions of Fear, Hate and Doubt, until finally Bullet is able to destroy the Emotion Control Box. Joule is enraged and uses her kinetic powers to pull the armor from Psycho-Man's back through his chest, basically ripping his insides out. Psycho-Man looks down at his maimed chest in disbelief for a moment, until Fractal chokes him out.
The New Mutants quickly locate and free the shadow priest, who turns out to be the former Micronaut known as Bug. Bug tells them that Psycho-Man is merely a puppet and that there is another secret master who commands him. Bug helps the New Mutants locate the minds of Blindside's parents. Their minds are transferred into roboid bodies. They are distressed but Blindside and Bullet calm them down.
Then Silent Knight teleports everyone to the Aegypta Zone of Homeworld, where Bug says they will find the last Time Temple. Silent Knight retrieves Microtron and he and Bug enjoy a brief reunion.
The New Mutants find the Time Temple guarded by insectovorids, who welcome Bug home.
Bug tells the New Mutants that "the dark one" has constructed a Dyson Sphere around the Sword Star and is using it to siphon off the Uni-Power from the Enigma Force. He is using the Uni-Power to open Prometheus Gates to the Macroverse. Bug tells the New Mutants that he must be transformed into a Time Traveler and that he will send out a call to all who will fight for the Microverse. He begs the New Mutants to confront the Dark One and shut down his Dyson Sphere.
Bug enters a sarcophagus with legs and is transformed into a Time Traveler. The New Mutants and the Insectovorids board a spaceship and follow the Bug-Time Traveler into space.
Within an hour, a rag-tag fleet slowly forms as ships from all over the Multiverse answer Bug's call to arms. Before long, the New Mutants find themselves leading a hundred ships towards the Sword Star.
When the fleet arrives at the Dyson Sphere, they see it surrounded by 20 stargates. A fleet of Sub-Atomican ships disgorge from the Dyson Sphere and an epic space battle begins. While the ships battle, the New Mutants don space-suits and are led by the Time Traveler to the control room of the Dyson Sphere.
There, they find the dark one, who they learn to be Baron Karza, back from the dead.
He begins to berate the New Mutants, telling them that their power is insignificant compared to his. But then Bullet fires a telekinetic bullet at him!
Before the reader can see the outcome of Bullet's attack, a word box appears saying:
