The previous Noble of Gratitude was gravely injured in battle, and went to the place he often sought, when he needed guidance, the Buddhist Temple that kept the life size bronze Buddha of Abundance that he had talked to since he was a boy. He was an orphan, raised by the monks.
As he died, he thought how the Buddha Statue could have made a better Noble of Gratitude than he had, and as he breathed his last breath, the statue came to life, and thanked him!
Bonds: The Statues bonds were imprinted while it was an object of worship and reflection, in the Temple.
7pts- Mission: Teach Humanity to be grateful for that which has not come, and thus bring it into being.
3pts- Anchor: HongYi a Chinese boy 10 years old, offspring of a young monk and a woman who visited the temple. Is being raised by his grandmother.
1pt- Anchor: Sgt Major George R. Kowsloski, USMC, Retired. Age 82. Married a woman in Korea, brought her back to the states, but always hated that she snuck around and did this “pagan stuff”. George got drunk once, showed up at the temple, cursed at the statue and threw a bottle of scotch at it. His wife died in a traffic accident in 1971. Every year since then, George comes by every few months, and gives one of the monks a few twenties for the orphans.
2pts- Anchor: Nancy Barbara Dubro, age 35. A self-help author, workshop leader, and public speaker, wife of Andrew Dubro, and mother of Alicin (14) and Richard 12). She was working in a secretarial pool, trying to raise two children (from her first marriage), and desperately seeking a way to cope with her life. She found inspiration in the Buddha of Abundance.
1pt- Anchor: Teddy Bear Dog- “Faith”
Her name is on her collar, and she doesn’t have a family per se. One of the monks found her and she was cared for in the temple for a time.
