The Story So Far

Chapter One

Each Scion is visited by their parents. Athena visits Artume in the rainforest of Bolivia. Dionysus visits Donnie in Thebes, Greece. Ares visits Mubatu in a village in the Ivory Coast.

The parents ask them to go to Washington D.C. and meet Wilimina Wise, a Scion of Athena and take directions from her.

The Scions all fly to Atlanta, Georgia, where they meet in a small Greek restaurant. Three old women, reminding them of the Fates, give them a cryptic warning.

Twins of coal bring light to the lost;
the messenger bears news dire.
When seen again, they herald the northward road.

---

The Scions board Donnie's private jet just as a thunderstorm is approaching. Artume senses peril, and looking out of the plane window seems to see Kalfu, Voodoo god of Crossroads, Dark Spirits, and Magic standing among the ground crew.

As soon as the plane levels off after take off, the Scions see dark creatures running along the thunderclounds, chasing the plane. Ninja-like animated shadow beings. They "shadow jump" into the plane and attack.

The Scions kill all but two, who leave solid black shurikens instead of bodies when they die. Bullet holes in the fuselage force the plane to land again.

Donnie hires a new jet to take everyone to Washington D.C.

At Dulles International Airport, Ms. Wise meets the Scions on the runway and takes them by limo to an annex building of the Library of Congress.

In a covert bunker beneath the building, she has established what she calls the Op Center. Her mortal contacts in the US government think that it is a covert operations center for threats against the United States. Ms. Wise explains that it's actual purpose is to track and respond to Titan threats across the globe.

She plans to use the Scions as operatives to respond to Titanspawn threats and to fight the Titan War here on Earth.

Ms. Wise will direct operations from Operations Center with the assistance of Ferris Hammer, Scion of Hephaestus.

The Scions are taken to a conference room where they are debriefed by two ravens: Huginn and Muninn.

They bring word that Odin is concerned about the recent theft of an ancient Incan Tablet by a Scion of Kalfu named Calvin Fell. The Norns have told Odin that the tablet is some how linked with Fate itself and that it's theft might trigger Ragnarok, the Twilight of the Gods. The Ravens ask the Scions for help in retrieving it and reveal that Fell has come to Washington DC.

The Operations Center spots Fell meeting Carmena Deseo, a Scion of Tlazolteotl, Godess of Love, Luxury, and Filth, at the Hotel George's french cafe the Bistro Bis.

The Scions go to apprehend Fell and Carmena.

At the Hotel George, the Scions go to the Bistro Bis to watch for Fell and Carmena. But they are approached by another Scion, posing as a waiter. A young red-haired man who claims to be the Scion of Freya. "Carrot-top" claims to be after Carmena for stealing his ring and offers to help the Scions. The Scions don't trust him.

The Scions search Carmena's room and find a hole in the floor leading to rooms below them and another hole leading to Fell's room. In Fell's room they find a young voodoo priestess performing some ritual. They confront her and realize that she is being "ridden" by Fell. He recongizes Artume and tries to see the rest of the Scions, but Artume knocks out his "horse."

Carrot-top convinces the Scions that Fell has gone to see a Professor James Ward and agrees to take them to him.

The Scions requisition a helicopter from the Operations Center and fly to Arlington Cemetery. Carrot-top leads them to a freshly disturbed grave and animates the corpse of Professor James Ward. The professor reveals that Fell was looking for the Sphinx of Heliopolis and he tells the Scions that it can be found in one of the basement store rooms in the Smithsonian Castle.

---

The Scions travel to the Smithsonian Castle by helicopter and then send the helicopter away. Mubatu and Donnie convince the Smithsonian guard to let them in and take them down to the store room.

There they find an ancient weathered sphinx statue that has obviously been disturbed.

The Scions realize that it is a touchstone and use it to travel to the Platonic Ideal Realm of the Sphinx.

In this mythical realm, the Scions are confronted by a Guardian Sphinx surrounded by freshly dead bodies. But Donnie is able to get the Sphinx to allow them to pass by introducing it to a crack pipe.

The Scions meet a colossal Sphinx and after answering a few riddles, he tells them what Fell is after.

Fell is attempting to reconstruct the Tablet of the Destinies, an ancient artifact once possessed by Marduk, whoever possesses it controls the universe. Deemed too dangerous to be possesses by one God, the pantheons agreed that it should be dismantled and hidden.

However, the Egyptian god Thoth, could not rest until he had deciphered the secrets of the Tablet. Through his studies, he created the Tarot Deck, each card being a fragment of the complete Tablet of the Destinies.

Fell wants to use Thoth's research to reassemble the Tablet and gain ultimate power.

The Sphinx says that Fell has gone to the Sarcophagus of Setep to find the missing information.

The Sphinx also reveals that "Carrot-top" is Sylvester Guiler, the Scion of Loki.

The scions find the Sarcophagus of Setep which they find to be a colossal coffin the size of a city block, containig a skeleton of equal size.

They find a hole "molded" into the top of the sargophagus and look down inside. In the center of the giant hollow skull, they see a scarab-shaped box, several destroyed mummies all surround by military-grade glow sticks.

When Donnie, Mubatu, and Artume climb down to the base of the skull, Carmena comes out of hiding. Perched atop the sternum of the colossal skeleton, she tosses a gourd down among them that causes an Aztec monster to appear.

The Scions look up to the hole they came in and see Sylvestor climbing out of it. The creature is turning towards them, as Carmena takes aim at them from high above.

Chapter Two

Mubatu is swallowed by the Atzec frog creature and the creature transforms back into the small gourd again. Mubatu is trapped inside.

Artume and Donnie fight Carmena while on the giant skeleton. Carmena tries to flee, but they catch up to her collapsed in the sand outside the sarcophogus.

She tells them that Calvin Fell is going to perform a ritual atop the Washington Monument to reassemble the Tablets of the Destinies. The heroes take Carmena's relics and then leave her tied up in the giant sarcophagus.

---

Once outside of the Sphinx touchstone, the heroes call for back up and then race to the Washington Monument. There, they see the same three old ladies from the restaurant in Atlanta there. The momument is surrounded by scaffolding, due to renovations. Fell is at the top performing a ritual, while five of his men with machine guns are on the scaffolding.

Artume and Donnie fight their way up. Artume gets to the top and fights Fell. She uses her silver bow to shatter the Tablet of the Destinies before it can reform. The three old ladies, who now look like three Greek maidens, are also affected. Two of them shatter, leaving one old woman behind.

Fell tries to flee by leaping off of the monument. Halfway down, Donnie leaps onto him and wrestles with him the rest of the way down. They fight in wading pool below.

Artume calls Wise who directs a police helicopter to pick her up from the top of the monument. The chopper descends, and Artume leaps out of it, 40 feet above the ground, firing her silver bow and she falls, incapacitating Fell.

The heroes take Fell and the old woman back to the Op Center.

After the debriefing, Donnie goes out for a night on the town, waking up the next morning with 8 women in bed with him. Muginn visits him to get some drugs.

Artume uses Fell's cell phone and texts Kalfu to come pick up his son at a designated spot. She keeps his relics though.

The next morning, Wise has moved the Sphinx from the Smithsonian to the Op Center.

Ferris has named the old lady Atropos. She sits alone searching through a Tarot deck, as if looking for a lost card.

Ferris warns Donnie to stay away from Wise.

Wise tells Artume that Artemis has adopted her sister Cynthia as one of her scions. Artume is not pleased and tells Wise how dangerous Cynthia is.

Wise calls Donnie into her office and tells him that they have to keep their relationship professional. Then she throws herself onto him, but later regains her composure.

Ferris shows Artume a medical lab that he's set up for her and thanks her for catching his laptop.

---

Wise asks Artume and Donnie to escort Ferris into the Sphinx to investigate it further.

Once inside, Donnie gives the Guardian Sphinx more crack.

Donnie convinces Ferris that he might be able to help him win over Wise.

They discover that every Sphinx has shattered. And they meet Thoth wandering around the rubble.



Thoth explains that Fell tried to assemble the Tablets of the Destinies by using the pieces of fate that Thoth had been studying. He tells the heroes that when Artume shattered the tablet, that it scattered the pieces of fate over creation. He asks the heroes to gather them together again, before the Titans or someone else can. To aid them in this, he gives the heroes a Feather, a Papyrus Scroll, and a Moon Disk.

The heroes also learn that Carmena has escaped to Cairo.

Once back at the Op-Center, Wise tells them that another situation has come up.



She introduces them to King Minos, one of the Judges of the Dead in Hades. He explains that the explosion of Fate atop the Washington Monument opened up another crack in Hades, allowing five high profile souls to escape. Zeus is pissed and wants them to recapture the souls and close up the crack in the Underworld. Zeus has a personal interest in these five souls.

The heroes are told that the crack has opened in Rio de Janeiro. They are given a Dirt Devil from Hephaestus to capture the souls. They are also given a uncooperative Cerebus puppy to track down the souls by scent. Lastly, they are given one of Zeus' thunderbolts to use to close the crack in the Underworld once they find it.

Chapter Three

Artume and Donnie prepare for their mission to Rio de Janeiro.

Wise tells Artume that the Security Section reports that a text reply was received by Calvin Fell’s cell phone in response to Artume’s text to Kalfu. It was addressed from Papa and said, “See you at the crossroads, child of Zeus.” There was a notation that a copy of the message had been sent to a recipient named Hera.

Donnie decides he wants to learn music and has his men call nearby universities to secure a music teacher at an exorbitant price.

Mubatu remains trapped in the gourd in a bathtub in the Op Center.

Artume works with Ferris to set up a method of translating Portuguese via their Bluetooth pieces connected to the Op Center.

The heroes are given a Cerebus pup which is the size of a pit bull, a Dirt Devil, one of Zeus’ thunderbolts, and personal articles of the targets for the dog to use to track them.

They are also given a run down of their five target souls.

Danaus, King of Argos, who ordered his 50 brides to kill their 50 grooms on their wedding night.

Pirithous, King of Lapiths, who sought to steal Persephone, the wife of Hades.

Tantalus, son of Zeus, who attempted to feed his own son to the gods.

Tityus, a giant, who tried to rape Artemis’ mother Leto.

Sisyphus, King of Corinth, who was avaricious and deceitful, violating the laws of hospitality by killing travelers and guests. He took pleasure in these killings because they allowed him to maintain his dominant position

Artume and Donnie take Donnie’s private jet to Rio de Janeiro.

On the flight, Donnie begins lyre lessons from a very confused teacher, named Miko.

Meanwhile, Artume takes the Dog-Head Aztec ring she got from Carmena and taps into her Mother’s affinity for animals to speak to the Cerebus pup. She names him Khan and calms him enough for travel.

---

Once in Rio, the plane is approached by government officials, but Donnie bribes them and they exit the plane unsupervised. Donnie sends Miko and his bodyguards to get them hotel rooms and they set off with Khan to find the souls.

After some struggle to control the Cerebus pup, Artume gets him to obey. Moving into downtown Rio, Artume notices that they are being followed by a man and a woman. Donnie picks up three transvestites for the purpose of causing a distraction.

Ahead of them, Artume and Donnie see some kind of disturbance at a nightclub called Melt. Police are outside talking to the managers and the Cerebus pup is excited to get there. But Artume and Donnie decide to deal with the people following them.

Donnie, with transvestites in tow, goes back to the two people and uses his manipulation to separate them. Leaving the man with the transvestites he moves away quickly with the girl. He demands to know why she is following them. She panics and goes for some type of mace tube. Donnie grapples with her. Artume commands Khan to attack and he barrels down on the girl, knocking her over, and biting her multiple times with his snake heads.

The man pulls out a gun and Artume drops him with her silver bow.

The police from the Melt bar rush over to stop what they think is a dog mauling a girl. Donnie distracts them and convinces them that there are snakes loose on the street, while Artume searches the man’s body.

She finds photos of herself, Donnie and Mubatu outside of the Library of Congress Annex on him. Also signs that he is some sort of covert agent. Curiously, he has a brand of the greek symbol Theta on one forearm and a satanic-looking goats head tattoo on the other.

---

Donnie slips away from the police and goes to the Melt bar. The place is in chaos as he discovers, not one escaped soul, but close to 50 zombies in the bar. They are partying wildly and with abandon. All are female. Khan goes nuts and Donnie allows the Cerebus pup to rampage into the bar.

Panic ensues as The Danaides flee, tearing the bar up in the process.

Artume notices one male zombie, too drunk to move in a fountain outside of the bar. Having located Danaus, she shoves the dirt devil into his mouth and sucks the soul out of the body.

---

Artume and Donnie allow Khan to chase several of the Danaides down in the street, until a few blocks later, the Cerebus pup stops his pursuit and dashes into the Scala dance club. The heroes follow him, stepping over the bouncer and a several patrons who have suffered snake bites. Khan has plowed onto the dance floor crowd and when they catch up with him, he’s pinned Pirithious down. They capture his soul with the dirt devil and then flee out of the back door of the club, hiding in a park a block away.

---

Checking in with the Op Center, Wise orders them to try to find the remaining souls and close the passage to the Underworld as quickly as possible. The presence of the two agents worries her.

Artume uses her Moon Mirror ability to avoid police patrols. They catch up with the soul of Tityus in a brothel. The giant has fused many corpses together to form a giant zombie body and is violently having his way with 6 prostitutes when Donnie finds him. Tityus first throws prostitutes at Donnie and then tries to smash him with a bed frame. Donnie tries to suck Tityus’ soul out of the zombie mouth, but Tityus resists and jumps out of a second story window onto the street below. Artume, Donnie and Khan struggle with Tityus, but have trouble hurting him. Finally, Artume ties the dirt devil to a silver bow, and using her legend to bend Fate, she fires the dirt devil directly into his mouth. Donnie leaps on Tityus’ back and leans over to press the on button on the dirt devil. The multiple bodies fall apart as the giant’s soul is sucked into the dirt devil.

---

Artume and Donnie find the soul of Tantalus in the penthouse restaurant atop the Copacabana Hotel. The entire restaurant is watching as the slightly decomposed man continues to shovel food into his mouth in impossible amounts. When the scions confront him, they see that his zombie stomach has burst open and that food is pouring out of his stomach onto the floor. Tantalus begs for forgiveness from Zeus, saying he’s suffered enough. But the heroes take his soul anyway.

---

Finally, Khan the Cerebus pup leads the heroes to a large cemetery . Four policemen guard the entrance, but Donnie distracts them as Artume sneaks in. The Cerebus pup is tired and takes a nap under a nearby tree.

She finds a Cyclops in a chauffeur’s uniform leaning against a mercedes, smoking a cigarette. Behind him, she sees a mausoleum that has been smashed open, with a tunnel sloping down inside. Sounds of heavy machinery are heard within.

Sneaking past the cyclops, she finds a disguarded corpse that has Sisyphus’ scent all over it. Creeping down into the excavation, Artume sees four Cyclops. One is operating a backhoe, as they attempt to open the rift to the Underworld even wider than it is. Sisyphus stands nearby in ghostly form talking with a many-vulture-headed man in a black business suit.

Artume sneaks back up and calls Donnie for help. Donnie pulls his gun on the police and convinces them to let him in the cemetary. Donnie rushes to the dig site, where he and Artume have a shoot out with the Cyclops chauffeur. Donnie takes out Cyclops by shooting up the Mercedes gas tank and blowing up the car.

The scions rush down into the mausoleum, ready for a fight. Their plan is for Artume to hurl Zeus’s thunderbolt at the Underworld rift, while Donnie rushes Sisyphus with the dirt devil. But they underestimate the power of the Thunderbolt. Artume hurls it at the rift, collapsing the entire mausoleum and burying all of the titanspawn. The two heroes barely make it out themselves.

Collecting the Cerebus pup, they return to their hotel room and check in with the Op Center.
