Biography
Sanuye's mother was Aiyana, or She Who Speaks On the Sky, or simply Silver Wind, the famous Hawk Clan Shoanti Oracle. No shaman or seer was more powerful than she among the Shoanti and she was respected by all of the clans. And Shoanti from all over the Cinderlands would come to consult her wisdom.
Silver Wind was an unusually fair-skinned Shoanti, having been adopted as a child. She was known for her fearlessness and bravery, some say because she always knew what the future held. And she had an uncanny way with animals, as if even the creatures of the Cinderlands respected her.
When the Orcs of Blackspire rose up to make war with the Shoanti, Silver Wind went with them, advising the Shoanti Clan Kings. In a climatic battle upon Mount Torgoth, the Orcs of Blackspire's army was shattered. But their leader, King Zorlog, fought to the end and confronted Silver Wind on the Torgoth peaks. Zorlog defeated her and had his way with her. Then fled into the mountains with the remainder of his broken army. The child she would have would be Sanuye.
All that Sanuye ever knew of Zorlog was that he was a cruel, fearsome orc who worshipped the god of pain, Zon-Kuthon. His war against the Shoanti was a horrible holy crusade in Zon-Kuthon's name. The Shoanti bear an incredible hatred towards him and the Orcs of Blackspire, still remembering the atrocities committed upon them.
Sanuye was the second daughter to Silver Wind. Her first was Kotori, or Red Moon. Like her mother, she was an oracle. And upon her coming of age, she was givin her name and Silver Wind's holy spirit staff. Red Moon was always truthful, even if the truth pained the hearer. Cold, impartial truth.
Silver Wind's third daughter was named Meeda, or Storm of Blades. A wild, fiery child, she was the direct opposite of Red Moon. Fickle, and changeable, she could never be trusted. But she was a prodigy with the greatsword and soon became famous for her battle skill. And her wild nature.

During one of these visits, Sanuye discovers a compartment in a pillar that holds a magical Earth Breaker. She keeps it. Silver Wind says that it is Fate.
16 - Ahanu is promised to marry a Shoanti princess named Namida, daughter of a lesser chief. But she suspects him of loving another. She discovers Ahanu and Sanuye together and reveals the scandal to all. The Shoanti are outraged and it falls to Silver Wind to pass judgement.
After consulting the spirits, Silver Wind pronounces that Sanuye is exiled from the Shoanti.
Later, Silver Wind meets with Sanuye before she leaves. She tells her that Fate has decreed this and it must be so. She tells her to travel south to find her destiny.
That same year, Sanuye arrives in Korvosa.
She is recruited by Captain Chantika of the Blood Sisters. She is a pirate captain of an all female crew. Chantika hates men and loves punishing them. She has an irrational fear of trees and tree-like creatures. She is dependent upon her crew for emotional support and very much wants their approval.
