Session One
Our story begins with rumors of dark creatures crawling out of the Meirani Forest and moving into the surrounding kingdoms.
The Meirani Elves have always forbidden others to enter their forest, so all investigators have been turned away.
But now, as incidents increase, the surrounding kingdoms receive a summons from the Queen of the Meirani, asking for representatives to attend a secret council.
Soon afterwards, the Dwarves of the Red Mountiains request a gathering of the representatives at the city of Meldorath, before they go to the Meirani.
Meldorath, the City of the Lurkwood Elves
Once all the representatives gather at Meldorath, the dwarves warn them that this is a trap. They say that the dwarves will not be sending a delegation and warn the others to do the same.
The Velashu Horse Lords are hesitant at well, but in the end, the following representatives are sent to the Meirani Elves:
Ardric Ivarson(Nick)
An Ancestral Oracle of the Velashu Horselords
Iron Crow(Jason)
A Human Monk of the Cypher Mages of Riddleport
Nolan(Scott)
A Human Magus from the Riverlands and arcane student at Meldorath.
Talia Lightarrow(Trina)
An Elven Ranger of the Lurkwood Elves of Meldorath
Tyronius Sudofedius(Nathan)
The Man Lost in Time; An Azlanti Mystic Theurge who claims to be 100,000 years old.
The representatives begin their three day journey across the Velashu Uplands towards the Meirani Forest. On the end of the first day, they happen upon the burning remains of a Horse Lord clan.
They discover six charred, burning men responsible for the slaughter and fight them. They quickly learn that this men explode when they are destroyed and also find that their tracks indicate they have come from the Meirani Forest.
The next day the representatives encounter a merchant caravan that has been frozen solid. From the distance they see a strange, sinister rider, but they decide to avoid him.
On the evening of the second day, they find the sole surviving merchant from the caravan. They heal him, give him a horse and send him on his way towards safer lands.
On the third day, the representaives reach the Meirani Forest. The beautiful elven wood seems somehow twisted and malicious now. Soon they are assaulted by mad treants, with small malicious fey creatures dangling from them and whispering in their ears. The heroes are able to drive off the fey, without the killing the treants.
Soon after they are greeted by Elven Rangers who have been looking for them.
"Even the trees turn against us now," says their leader, who then escorts them back to the Meirani village of Crying Leaf.
Queen Eviana of the Meirani Elves
At Crying Leaf, the heroes are brought before Queen Eviana, who looks troubled and sorrowful. But before she can speak to the players, more elves burst in: An ambassador from Kyonin, some Lantern Bearers, and a Meirani political rival. They attempt to stop the queen from speaking to the players, but after some effort, she sends them away.
Queen Eviana welcomes the players to Crying Leaf and apologizes for their treatment. She says the Meriani Forest is growing dark and twisted and the reason for this is the return of the Drow. For centuries, the elves have made war with the Drow to keep them contained in the ruins of Celwynvian. They also kept their borders closed for fear of news getting out to the Elves in other parts of the world. The dread secret they wished to protect, is that the Light Elves and the Dark Elves are one in the same. And when a Light Elf's heart becomes sufficiently evil, he can transform into a Drow. The elves fear that wide-spread knowledge of this would cause a Elven Civil War and also allow the Drow to somehow exploit this.
Queen Eviana explains that for centuries they were able to keep the Drow at bay, with the help of the reinforcements from Kyonin: a special order of Elf warriors named the Lantern Bearers. But now, unexpectedly, the Drow have taken Windsong Tower! A month ago, the King of the Meirani left Crying Leaf with a force of Elves to meet the Drow. . . but no one returned.
Queen Eviana knows now that the time for secrecy is over. She is now asking the neighboring kingdoms for aid. Although there are still many in Crying Leaf who oppose this course of action.
The players agree to help the Queen and in the morning set out to Windsong Tower to see what they can find out.
Along the way, they capture a lone Drow Captain. But while they are interrogating her, they are attacked by Lantern Bearer Elves from Crying Leaf!
Aerel of the Lantern Bearers
The players defeat the elves and question them. Their leader, Aerel says that he and his men took no joy in their orders, but were commanded to kill the players so that word of the Drow would not leave Elven lands. After some negotiation, the players release the Lantern Bearers and send them back to Crying Leaf to report their failure.
The players question the Drow and discover that Tyronius' wife is still alive and in Windsong Tower. They also learn that the Drow are still there.
They kill the Drow Captain and contine to Windsong Tower.
Razorhorn the Dragon
There, they discover that the ruined city is being patrolled by Giants. They also observe a few Drow in the central tower who summon a Razorhorn, a large green dragon. After the dragon flies away and the Drow return into the tower, the players crouch in the nearby forest, trying to plan how to infiltrate the village.
The Drow in the Tower
